I did that for all of our can lights that used the silly expensive square base fluorescents. It took a while as I did it the hard way. Cutting out the ballasts, cutting off the socket adapter, and tying them into the romex. Well worth the effort for cost, looks, and light quality.

The wild part is that insurance repairs still negotiate down to well under $100/hr.

 

I know body shop labor is much lower than mechanical labor rates. Have seen a few quotes from the guys next door since I’ve been down here.

 

It’s inline with what I’m seeing with indie shops. Crazy that they are not much cheaper than a dealerships these days.
Heck, even mobile mechanics want to charge $150 to connect an OBD device.
