The EcoFlow 800W alternator charger has been a game changer for me when solar was not viable due to camping locations, weather, and even when mobile.

When mobile, I can pour in all 800W as well as whatever my 200W solar setup pulls in. The highest I've ever seen combined was 969-972W combined while driving SEa Oregon desert in direct sun.

EcoFlow recently came out with a 500W alternator charger, as well as a non proprietary XT60 cable that allows charging any other brand of power station that has the XT60 input (500W max).

Yup!

My Delta 2 allows for solar input up to 500W and at the same time 800W from my alternator charger.

So, with that...... I run one Delta 2 behind the front passenger seat (double cab). My 200W solar and 800W alternator are plugged into to that. Fridge runs off that Delta 2 as it has nearly zero chance of running out of power.

A second Delta 2 rides behind the driver front seat. This one is just plugged into one of the A/C outputs from Delta 2 #1, and recharged as needed.

I run an extension cord to the back into the truck bed and it powers my electric cooking needs, electric water heating for coffee or shower water, as well as electric blanket if I get cold.

And since my second Delta 2 has the side charging/tethering port still open, I can tether my Delta 2 Smart Extra battery and have that sit on the floor in passenger front. Never actually needed that much power yet.

 

Loving all these power tips - I haven't needed anything other than solar yet, but that's because I chase the sun lol. As soon as the weather in the PNW gets cloudy and cold, I'm headed down through California to the desert. I can burn through so much power and still be charged up to 100% by EOD with only a 200W panel pulling in 150-160W all day. That desert sun is magic for sure.

That said, good to know that one of these alternator chargers would be a good move. I don't have my solar hard mounted - just have a mobile panel that I set out along my truck when I'm posted up so it won't be an issue for me to only be able to charge while driving or charge from solar .

On another note, my wife's new camper shell was just installed and we're working on the build this weekend. The shell is custom built for her to be exactly standing height and the whole thing will be powered by another Bluetti AC200L. She was rocking a 2006 Sprinter, but got too jealous of all the spots I could wheel out to with 4x4 and high clearance so we sold the van and she jumped into a Tacoma, too.

 

Sorry man, didnt mean to turn your thread into a power station one. With that said I broke down and ordered the Ecoflow Delt 2 max and the 800w charger. The fact that I only have to run 1 pair of wires and the versatility sold me. I figured Memorial Day sales was the time to do it.

 

Mine is bone stock, 2015. I only picked it up a year ago and have a lot of other things going on with my house. This fall I should finally have some time to put in, doing a 2 wheel low mod first, then a heavier suspension and a mild lift.
If you dont mind my asking, what undercoating did you use? I have to get that done before winter, but I am not sure which to use.

 

Form factor should be a big consideration when deciding between Bluetti and Ecoflow. Bluetti’s plugs are on the long side; Ecoflow plugs are on the short end. For my own camper configuration, situating the Ecoflow so that the plugs are easily accessible doesn’t work well.

The cost and form factor of battery expansion should be considered as well.

I think I’m going with a third option instead of the Bluetti though: a 320Ah Group 31 heated LifePo4 battery in the factory battery tray under the hood. That frees up a lot of space in the camper, doesn’t need additional charging hardware, and is cheaper too.

No worries at all! A lot of great info in here. I've been telling people I think ecoflow is the move for these reasons mentioned, great to know 100% that it is the case

 

most people I know swear by fluid film. I wire brush, sand and hit with a base of rust oleum rust reformer. then do their black on top. makes it easier to wash everything off too having that oil based paint on there. I'm sure others can comment on their experience doing some form of fluid film, I just never wanted to have a bunch of stuff that would make a mess should I have o do something under there. I need to wire brush, sand, and paint my frame again this year. I should really do that, then fluid film it for the winter. I basically have to do this process every few years. everything is in great shape under my truck though, besides some of the brackets that aren't too important

 

This is true, I am a fan of how the bluetti has all the plugs set up. I temporarily picked up an ecoflow delta 2 max, I did find it inconvenient where all the plugs were

 

I still need to calculate my MPG, ended up getting gas to avoid having to stop in some undesirable locations for gas on my route

Damn - that was what I used to get with my slide in on the access cab lol. Was a real pain when trying to get out to remote places where one wrong turn meant I wasn't getting to the gas station a few hours away... Are you bombing it on the highway or babying it under 70?
