I thought so as well, as I was getting really tired of power tools and batteries clogging up my other drawers. And I really hate leaving power tools out in the open on my tool box. To often it encourages scavenger borrowing...

However, despite my lack of fear of drilling holes into it, I haven't found a great organizational system for all the tools and batteries that balances full access and maximum space usage. It's really sort of an odd space that's almost too shallow in depth and height, and overly deep side to side.

I'll take a picture of how it stands currently tomorrow, but I've got some other tool and battery holders I'm looking to try to better use the space. But I haven't been really motivated to try them because it's all a 'lateral move' that I'm not convinced will work much better.

Like I said, it seems to work better in my head than in reality in some ways.

The HF manual tire changer works and has help me out on many sets of tires. But i really hate the bead breaker. 2002 is cool but I wanted one with a gearbox. Those goes for roughly 1k. So I decided to try and come up with something compact specific for my needs.

Just got the parts today. Wish me luck.

Harbor freight has an inside track coupon for 20% off any one item so I purchased a new vice. I got tired of waiting for a good deal on a wilton bullet vice, that doesn't happen around me. So from what I hear the guy that designed this vice worked for wilton. He was asked is it as good as a wilton? Answer was no but it's 90% So I purchased this Doyle 61/2" vice. It's normally $199 but with 20% off it was $159. It's a massive vice and a huge upgrade over what I had. Also has hardened jaws and a sealed screw just like a wilton. And it's also ductile iron not just plain cast iron. Very strong.
My old 30 year old 6" vise.

    New Doyle.
    20250523_171727.jpg
    Impressive specs.
    20250523_171734.jpg
It dwarfs my old vise! I can carry the old vise with one hand. This one is 68 lbs.
    20250523_172008.jpg
I gotta get some new bolts to mount it. It has a large base plate and 4 mounting he's instead of the old vices 3 holes.
    20250523_172722.jpg
I'm no longer look for or wanting a wilton. I'll keep the extra money in my pocket. If my old vice lasted 30 years this one will outlive me!

Harbor freight started selling a knockoff of evolutions 14" metal cutting blade. They had a coupon this weekend for $50. Compared to the normal evolution price of $100, it's worth a shot...

A few years ago when my father-in-law was downsizing and selling his house, the only thing I was interested in was his 50 year old, American made bench vise. It turned out to be a total disappointment. The castings were completely hollow and the vise was bent in such a way that the jaws closed in a V shape.

Just because something's old and made in U.S.A. doesn't automatically mean it's good.

I ended up buying a Capri vice - forged steel and made in Taiwan. So far, so good.

I have one of their Chop Saws also. I didn't know they were selling blades for them.

Yeah, I have no idea when they started selling the blades. I'm really obsessive about watching all the tool brands new tool pages, but never saw them release those.

It just popped up in this weeks coupon batch, so be sure to include the coupon with purchase!

I got about a year out of my first evolution blade, cutting some really serious c-channel, angle, and square tubing. So I'm curious how long an obvious-lesser quality carbide tip will last(only way to maintain precision but drop the price).

If my genuine vs knockoff carbide hole saw experience is anything to go by, it should last about 6-8 months in the same cut style.

I’ve been working on getting this built since the middle of last year, between clearing a spot on my property to waiting on engineered plans to waiting now on permits from the county.
