Better off selling and move her into assisted living. Nursing home would take all her money and then some...and she'd still owe money after she passed

 

That was her logic. Have nothing in her name and then she wouldn’t have to worry about it. I have no idea how that works to be honest.

 

Well I got some weed whacking and mowing done before it started pouring rain again . Lot more to go

Doesn’t help . Last week I had a gobbler coming down the hill to my blind and when I looked out the side window a fox was trotting across the hill between me and the turkey . Turkey stopped gobbling and that was that .

 

They still take her money

 

In most states the nursing homes can collect on assets that have been transferred to someone else if it’s been less than 5 years.

All I know is I want my parents to be happy and content the rest of their lives. I expect nothing in the way of an inheritance. I just don’t want to be burdened to be a caretaker or the responsibility of their estate.

I can barely manage my own day to day needs and requirements.

If they sign all of their assets to you now, they live 5 more years...nobody can take their shit because legally they wont own anything.

Make sure they have a last will and testament signed, witnessed and notarized. If you are the only son you need to be executer of the estate. If you give power of attorney only allow a limited amount they can do, pay bills etc. Never give full power of attorney.
