An update to my last post. Passenger door only on my 2002 constantly triggers unlock when opening/closing. Also during driving. It happens almost constantly while driving depending on how smooth the roads are. No key fob installed. Just keys, so no malfunctions there.

This is driving me and my passengers insane!

I managed to pull the door panels off each door, and unplugged the mechanisms. Yet it still happens! Video attached will show what’s happening. I inspected all wires up and down each door, including within the boot in the jam. All look fine and wiggle test doesn’t set off the trigger. It seems to somehow be within the inside of door jam hinge if that makes sense? The one that bolts to the pillar and goes inside the door while closed.

Any insight here? At this point I’m willing to remove the auto-lock feature completely if that’s possible, but it doesn’t seem I can as I don’t see any fuse specific to them.

Any help would be great, this is driving me insane!

Unplug the 3 wire door lock switch on the door and see if the problem persists.

If the problem still there, pull the wiring in the door jam boot and check for chaffed wire.

other 2 possibilities are the door lock motor and the key position switch in the door lock.

When you say 3 wire door lock switch, you mean the plugs that connect to the panel with the buttons itself? Because all of those were unplugged during that video.

Noted on the motor and key position switch. This door in particular does have an issue with not unlocking, but it does lock. It’s only this door. Could be a coincidence but I wonder if that could be the root of the issue? I just wonder why bumps/door position would affect that.

That’s electrical problem for you. can be either a chaffed wire or a bad switch. Methodically wiggle all the wiring in the door and then look inside the door jam boot.

If I were you, I’d unplug the key position switch on the door lock (another 3 wire switch) and see if you can replicate the problem with it unplugged.

    FINAL UPDATE:
    Issue fixed!
I had some free time this weekend to really investigate. In the meantime, I had the 30amp power fuse disconnected so it wouldn't engage while driving. Not being able to use electric windows/other locks was an easy sacrifice for the time being.

It ended up being a pinched and broken wire leading to the door actuator plug! It seems the previous owner attempted to "fix" the issue by electrical taping the entire group of wires together, thus creating a poor connection that would constantly trigger when under movement. This resulted in each wire within having frayed covers and exposed wires.

I spliced each wire within the bundle and used real connectors. I also replaced the actuator itself as this door wouldn't lock/unlock. Pleased to say everything is fixed, and working as should! No more issues, and now the door actually locks/unlocks as it intended.

Keeping this up for anyone else that might be having the same issue. Check the area behind the plastic cover, where the group of wires are ran over into the inner panel. This is a sharp edge which seem to cut the wires over time. I made sure to reinforce the area heavily after splicing them back together.
