Man, I'm so glad everyone over here has yet to do that. That albino carpet is had was a nightmare to feed though. Stay up till 12 warm the fuzzy way to hot. Drop it on one of the perches near him come back in thr morning and hope it was gone. Wouldn't even look at anything offered on tongs

 

This is the first time he ate in 6months. Even if I just left the mouse in the tank. Not alot is known about this breed of snake unfortunately. It's a viper boa

 

It can be tough with them I had a buddy years ago that was trying to breed them. But establishing a wc group to breed is always a pain. Any idea if yours is wild caught or captive bred?

 

Oh it's definitely wild caught. Me and my buddy figured that out the hard way. I had 2 of them 1 died a week after I hot them. My buddies died 2 days after he brought it home. We got them from. A reptile expo. All from the same seller. My buddy also got 3 turtles from that guy and all 3 turtles died. My guess he's selling sick animals

 

The wild caught market is so rough. Only ethical thing with it if your knowingly buying them is to try and establish breeders so we can have a captive bred population for keepers. If a seller is offering wc it needs to be made really apparent to buyers so they are aware and can take appropriate steps for success.
It sucks you ended up losing one alot of the time they just don't adapt and thrive.

Iv been struggling to find captive bred white lipped pythons still but I know a few guys trying so fingers crossed they succeed this year. As there's no way I'm gambling on wc examples.

Right, I had one that was wild caught and it just didn't adapt unfortunately. So i will just continue to wait until someone dials in how to breed them. I also have my eyes on a papuan python but we will see that is alot of pesos.

 

My buddy sent me a listing for a dragon snake. Told him after having a viper boa and the struggles of having a wild caught snake i was not interested. I did alittle research on them and seems to be just as challenging. I'll stick to my kings easy to care for and they never turn down food.

 

Those dragon snakes are cool as hell but from anyone iv talked to that has tried they recommend a pickle jar so you can enjoy it longer than 6 months.

Ever seen borneo earless monitors? Same kind of look. Saw some in person many years ago, would love to get some but I don't think there's much for breeding efforts going on with them.

 

No I haven't and that thing looks sick. I wonder why they wouldn't try to breed them.

 

I'm sure someone is. But at the original price point of 15k I don't think many could make the investment to get started. I think iv seen them as low as 3500 now but all wc examples from what I have seen and all in the US for me to pay the exchange plus cities and shipping to get them across the border just way to much cash for a hard maybe on survival.

We did have an expo this past weekend that I aquired a carpet python at. My albino went back as 4 months in the thing refused to feed in any sort of a regular manner. This one is far better started and a bit older so hopefully she settles in well ill get some pictures after she settles into the temporary quarantine set up.

 

Hopefully everything goes well with the new python.

That's a tiny 12x12x18 for quarantine for a month or so then I have a 36x24x16 waiting with everyone else.

 

Was just looking into the carpet python man they are some beautiful snakes.

 

When I redo my basement I'll be turning that into my reptile room. I'll have way more space down there. I need to start gutting it soon.
Was talking with my buddy last night we are going to building a pond in his backyard for his alligator snappers. He also has a 60yr old common snapper this thing's gotta be 70lbs.
