How to get brighter DRLs with Fog Lights on

    Hey Guys,

I've noticed a significant loss of brightness in my daytime running lights (LED strip) when my fog lights are turned on.
What can I do here, as I'm assuming there's a loss of amperage towards the DRLs with the fogs on?

Why are you running your fog lights during the day?

The input to the DRL strip has 2 sources. One is tail circuit, this turns off the Bright input source. I designed a gadget to prevent this, but the person who assembled and sold them is no longer providing them (online store closed)

Have you ever heard of dawn or dusk? When it's not quite day time or night time? Or early morning fog from rain the previous night.
Why question people's motives? If you have nothing to contribute, move along.

    Interesting.
Tell me more about this gadget you designed. Any photos?

Daytime running lights (DRL) on vehicles are designed to enhance visibility during “daylight” hours. Your headlights and fog lights are for dawn, dusk and night not your “daytime running lights” so what you are trying to accomplish is pointless.

Whether you understand what I'm wanting to accomplish or not, is not my concern. You have the ability to answer my question or you can't. If you can't; have a good day.

Dual diode getting input from DRL and Tail circuit inputs to each headlamp assembly. When DRL stops providing power to LED (Tails selected), then Tail circuit provides power, thus maintaining Bright LED DRL. Tail input to LED is left disconnected to lamp assembly.

There is a great saying, “To each their own”. I do like to have DRL and Fogs on during the day. I feel it makes me more visible to on-coming traffic.

Kind of a carry-over from my motorcycle days where I rode on sunny days with nigh beams on. High beams on a sunny day will not blind anyone and you should notice I am coming toward you from the opposite direction.

I used to ride with my highbeams on occasionally back in my motorcycle days also. I'm Canadian, and vehicles by law have to have DRLs. So at times depending on weather or season, the DRLs suffice but I'd like a little more brightness (and aesthetic appearance) from my fogs with the yellow lenses, instead of turning on my lowbeams.
But as mentioned, I notice the DRL brightness is reduced once the fog lights are illuminated.

I like the looks of the DRLs in the day time. But as I mentioned, at times during dawn or dusk or heavy rain and dark clouds, like the weather I got yesterday. The extra from the fogs would be nice.20241011_184409.jpg

This would also keep the DRL at full brightness with the low beams. I would add a relay triggered by the low beams to break the park circuit portion of that configuration. But I like complicated things

No need, when low beams are selected the DRL circuit (high) turns off, hence the dual input to HIGH and the diodes.

Yeah, but the park circuit will still supply 12V to the DRL. So as long as that DRL (position 2) is getting 12V, you’ll have full brightness DRL. So if you ran the park circuit (position 1) through the NC side of a relay, and triggered that relay with the low beams, that would stop that 12V getting to the DRL. Position 2 would be 0V at that point like you said, so that circuit wouldn’t need to be broken.

Edit: that is hard to understand
The position 2 I reference first would be the load side. The other references are line (supply) side.

    Pretty spot-on description!
