all stock parts still but ive replaced the outside door handle on both driver and passenger side, also replaced windshield wiper fluid reservoir,
Driving around yesterday and heard some Awful Noises so I pulled over immediately and popped the hood, apparently the nut holding the pulley for the power steering pump fell off along with the pulley itself! Thank God the fan shroud caught the pulley and the drive belt was still there too.

I just need a replacement for that nut but don’t remember its size, if anyone could share the specs for it (including thread pitch and the like) that would help a great deal!

    Easier said than done..
Probably not that simple, probably some odd thread pitch....
Not like he knows exactly what size nut & thread pitch..
Unless hes replacing the pump & can drag it in the store with him.

Get the flashlight out & magnet...
Be certain its not in your fan shroud, see random hardware get lost in shrouds...
Customer hits bump & hardware goes bouncing, & cooling fan hits a homer through the radiator...

    What repair were you doing?
look really good from underneath, in all the brackets, motor mount, sandwiched inbeween the block & accessories, in holes within the crossmember, etc...
    Pencil magnet is your friend...

If you didnt take anything apart, its probably at the very bottom corner of the fan shroud....

Check the pulley and shaft for damage.
I do not see that part available from toyota and the shaft unfortunately does not have thread size/pitch listed.
I would measure the thread diameter to get a rough idea at least, go to Ace/Lowes/Home Depot and buy a few different size metric nuts that are that size diameter, try to screw the variouse nuts onto the shaft BY HAND, NO WRENCHES or you will force the wrong nut on and mess up the threads. Based on your picture it looks to be a fine thread pitch to me.
Might be worth asking your local parts store if you can see a new/refurbished power steering pump to see what style of nut is used.

A few days before this happened I was replacing the drive belts, and didn’t think to loosen the belt properly (by angling the pump itself to loosen the tension) thus I took off the pulley and apparently didn’t tighten it enough.

to those saying I should check the fanshroud, I already did thoroughly and it wasn’t there :/

I was thinking of just removing it to bring it into a hardware store but the nearest one is closed for the Memorial Day, and I would have a good bit of trouble removing the hoses attached to it anyways.

I’ll see give it some more thought and try and either take it out and bring it to a store or find the specs for maybe that specific pump online (not sure how feasible that would be since it might be proprietary or smth)

call the dealer they may have access to one, atleast be able to order you one...
Better yet, if its a good parts guy, their listings may show them mm size & thread pitch...

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
Take some paper and press it into the threads so you can compare it to the thread pitch gauge at the hardware store. Buy a few different nuts to try out.

That bolt could be resting on the skid plate. I had this happen on my AC pulley and everything was sitting on the skid plate. Might as well take that off quick and see if it is there.

Here’s a picture of it. It’s 17 mm. Might technically be called a flange nut as it has that base to it. I tried getting it off but mine is on real tight and I’m not trying to create a problem. I’d bet it is a M12 1.25. Seems like most if not all bolts on these Toyotas are fine threaded.

This is perfect!! Exactly what I was needing! I took a look at it with some calipers just now and it seems to line up with that as best I can tell

I’ll also add that I recently had to buy one of these exact nuts for my CRV and I had no luck getting one at Napa, ACE, Oreilleys. I ordered some off of Amazon. Might be able to buy one from a local mechanic or dealership. YMMV.

Yeah, dont think HD or hardware stores are going to have fine thread anything but could be wrong...
Yes, I do understand alot of hardware stores have bins with lots of speciality fasteners, but fine thread readily available isnt going to happen...
cuz all these nuts that the hardware store supply are mostly supplied to mate with bolts if that makes sense...
But, worth a shot of one is located locally..

Depending on where you live, fastenal stores can order just about any size and type of bolt/nut and get them delivered quickly.

Ive got a place down the street that has pretty much every bolt known to mankind in stock, can buy individual pieces....
Everyone in the automotive industry & construction uses them locally.
