One of my best buds' step son scored this trailer frame and axle off the Internet.

The axle is from a mobile home, so it's heavy as fuck. The frame was welded together by a very skilled welder, but they weren't no utility trailer builder.

The deck sat 30" off the ground when it showed up. I knew this was gonna be a nightmare job.

I flipped the axle so it is now slung above the springs. This lowered it 3".

I removed the 4" sub frame that the spring hangers were welded to. This dropped it 4".

The spring hangers were some bastard, home made, janky things that were 5".

I installed som standard 2" hangars. We are now at 20ish"

I wish when people bought something, they didn't tell the seller " I know a guy" that can correct the fabrication mistakes.

I'm tired of being " that guy".

Are those scabbed in sections of tubing on the cross members? Oops.

Yep, some interesting fabrication, to say the least.

It's 1/8" wall tubing. Pretty stout. Makes the trailer very heavy, but with those mobile home springs, the extra weight is good.

This is intended to haul a side by side ATV.

Got the fabricated fenders mounted. I order 48" x 10" x 1" channel bent out of 16 g. Sheetmetal. They are heavy duty enough that you can stand on them.

The bender read the prints wrong. They gave me 12" wide fenders with 1" flanges. I asked my bud if he wanted them rebended? His answer..." Fuck no, the step son hasn't lifted a finger on this project. He gets it as is.

I was sweating a bit. I only had 1/4" of gap to get it out the garage door.!

The ramp gate turned out quite nice. The beaver tail deck makes the loading angle much more reasonable.

Ramp gate lowered: I think the angle is not so steep, even short lawn mowers could load without scraping the bottom of the deck.

you get way more credit than i could ever have for taking something like this on considering the circumstances...

for people that want to help, or reach out to me only as a last resort because they realize and come to terms that they lack the tools/experience, i'll move the world to help them as soon as possible.

but people that just click things and expect someone else to complete it for them, it's a level of incompetence that i'm suddenly too busy to handle for the next 6 months minimum.

To be honest, I don't really know the relationship my bud has with his step son. I haven't even met him. I do believe the human nature involves complaining about others ...guilty as charged.

The stepson does have a good, bluecollar job and is a contributing member of society. He is in his mid 20's. I remember that age. Our view of the " big picture" wasn't that vast back then.

We all love to complain about the fallowing generation, I get it.

My only hope is that in 25 years when we are bent up and hardly walking, the effort will be remembered.

I like to think that I'm appreciated for my abilities, even though I'm eligible for an AARP card.

Wire wheeling the wife's truck frame.

Rust free Tacoma standard cab frame from the south.

No rust on the thing, but lots of sand packed into closed sections.

I had torn latex glove at that time, so took a pic while I could grab the phone without getting paint on it.

The bottom side is all painted now.

 Well, I spaced mid post I guess, let's try again.

What are your plans to clean/coat the inside of the box sections?

    Lol.

Yes. After I get done with painting, which is the part I hate, I'll cart it outside I'll elevate an end and pressure wash the insides of the frame members. I'll probably do the same thing for the cross members.

It will get Fluid Film coating injected into all cavities. I don't think I'll do that until I get the components swapped over. I really hate dealing with that slimy shit. It's like Anti-Sieze. It gets everywhere.

I don't think they looked this nice straight from the factory.

I'm glad that bullshit paint prep and painting is done!
