Curious whhat kind of mileage you get when you tear around on it? You say you CAN put bags on it...Have you pretty much left it alone? Top case?

The side bags are on the small size, but It's not a full blown touring rig. I can get out for a few days with this.

As for mileage, I get nearly 55mpg just riding around, drops to low 40s if I run it hard...

those numbers are pretty compelling! If I ever have a 'commuter' gig again...this will be the route I take. Are those Orbits? C-bow mounts? Great system, but they do look small compared to the top case! Good looking ride.

I looked at it when I went with these. The Tracer uses a different (longer) tail section, the mounts would have to be modified, possibly substantially. They would have to be pushed back a bit, That's why I went with the Hepco & Becker Orbits. Smaller, but bolt on.

    edit: defective keyboard, mis-spells sometimes.

Speaking of luggage... I just ordered these for my wife. She already bought the mounts for them, but shifted gears to saving her fun money up to buy the HeliBars she wants/needs to help with reach. Figure we'll both get use outta these until I get around to some sort of luggage. Still on the fence about just a rackless system, or something like these. Maybe if I like them I'll make her buy me a set for Christmas or something.

Yes, they are the Orbits. Expensive, but very high quality. They are 15l/per side, the top is a 46l, so yeah, huge in comparison.

ah ya that is fair. can you get ones roughly in the same size? or is the mt09 limited to the smaller ones?

I see the above mentioned Shads have a mount for the MT-09, they are 23l/side. That's about it. The MT isn't really a touring bike so not many have mounts for cases. IIRC, I bought the Hepco & Becker because I found a set slightly used for a screaming deal. I don't remember if the Shads lock to the mounts, the Hepco & Becker do, with the same key that locks the cases.

I thing the Tracer mounting system is the same as the FJR1300. I believe the Tracer came through with the narrower "city" bags as used on the European police bikes. Post a close up pic of your mounting points if you get a chance.

Yup, Shads lock to the mounts. The latching mechanism is under the lid, so have to unlock/open the lid to work it.

Oh, and on the MT-09, shad has all these compatible with the 3P mounting system. so lots of choices/sizes

Yup, I've got Hepco Becker on a bike. Great stuff. The Standard in the Guzzi scene. I like the Shad brand as well. Europe has several brands that do a great job with secure mounting options and water tight cases. Almost can't go wrong. That C-Bow system is particularly slick.

Finally got the exhaust sorted. The way the hi-mount can tucks inside on this bike makes it more than a little tricky. And It looks odd. BUT, the added o'all length, when matched with a custom MAP, provides the best possible performance for the machine.

Was able to get out and do 330 miles over the weekend, 220 yesterday. It was definately worth the trouble. Smooth torque throughout, no popping on decel, added 3-5 mpg. A little quieter, but that's of little consequence.

@BkerChuck, stepdaughter gets married this weekend, then I'll start on the 'tour' in earnest. Getting time for this hasn't been easy.

You are correct. The City bags have a narrower lid; the bag portion is the same as the FJR bags. I’ve seen some guys use the City bags on their FJR to cut down on the width.

Work is rough today after the 3 day weekend, 2 of them spent at the track. All I wanna do is get back out and ride lol. Hope yall had a good weekend as well.

Took the Ducati and she rode beautifully. Discovered that the previous owner must have been a pretty heavy dude, as they had replaced the rear spring for something quite stiffer. With the preload fully backed out we were able to get it just right, but I’ll probably be changing out the spring at some point for one appropriate for my weight.
