Update…Toyota sent me an offer. Full buyback plus cost of new 285’s I had installed. Will say this went a lot faster than I anticipated. Thanks again to “Slater” pointing me in the right direction

Your welcome, im glad I can help & thanks for trusting me & the process....
Might have a slight hold-up with the process time frame from Sedgwick....
Took forever for their rep to call me from the date I sent toyota all the financial stuff after they agreed to the buy back, like youre going through now...
Took 3 weeks for their call & then the Sedgwick rep couldn't meet me at the dealer for another few weeks after the initial call.

    Regardless, good deal!
Now go drive the living hell out of the truck, roadtrip time, enjoy....
For the record, im not saying abuse it, just enjoy & dont stress about the mileage...

I got a peek at the '25 TRD OR that has my name on it tomorrow. Paint looks great and I feel good about the purchase. Only fault I found ao far is tailgate not being centered(fairly easy fix).

Let me know if yall see anything. Truck assembled in Guanajuato.

That looks pretty good to me. I’m going to revisit the silver if it comes from the non Baja plant.

!! that's information I wish I had when i was shopping for my 4th gen. I've always wanted a white Tacoma, but gun shy because of all the white paint issues.

    Hi all...

I just got an email from my local Toyota dealer. They are offering for me to take the truck (I have same exact issue as Cappy737 - except mine appears to only be on the hood) to a paint shop of my choice to have issue remedied and Toyota will foot the bill. I really do like the truck but can't decide if I should push for buy back or take a shot at repainting the hood?!?!

Can a good body shop match the hood to the rest of the truck or is it nearly impossible to do?

Also, Cappy737 or slater... how do I message either of you on here for advice or input on buy back from Toyota if I go that route? Assuming you are willing to chat... thanks.

Bronze was my first choice; silver my second; white my third; and underground my fourth.

But getting a THLB at a discount takes time, and realized I could not hold out longer than 12 months and not spend the money I had saved for it.

So, along with the MGM 4R, I am the gray vehicle guy who always winces when he sees how much the dirt and spray shows up on the trucks. But they're trucks.

With 800 miles and a good deal of rain and mud hereabouts, my Taco definitely looks dirtier than it would in any other color but black!

Would they ship you a new OEM hood and pay for the install?

I think a good shop can fix a hood.

This is what 3 bodyshop managers including 1 from toyota, along with toyota service manager along with myself mindset has always been...
These guys have about 10 years on me so each 40 years in the business...
As crappy as the toyota paint is when theyre painted correctly, the crappy paint job is more durable than a repaint....
Matching isnt the issue, its the longevity of a respray.
They have paint matching down to a science these days at reputable shops.
We didnt pay $50k to get crappy paint to begin with, push for a buyback & start over....

Are you 100% without a doubt certain its not on a fender, or the bed side also, maybe a door....
looked at it under various lighting?
Didnt take Toyotas word for it....

Ide bet youre missing a panel....
But then again, I have seen some subtle ones where it was just a hood...

I used to supervise a large Ford dealership paint and body shop. Yes, a good painter can match with no problem. You'll have to do some research online with reviews and find a good shop with a good painter and a good bake paint booth. Also be advised, when they paint the hood, in order to make it match they will have to also clearcoat both fenders. It's called blending. That's what makes it match. From what I've noticed about the paint on my Tacoma, you'll probably end up with a better paint job on the hood than what the factory gave you.

You dont just shoot the hood, it gets blended into other panels like the fenders...
You dont have to but thats how things match better...
Thats how professional body shops do it
