My casio rangeman is solar powered and it sets itself from WWV. 13 years I've never set it wound it or replaced a battery and it is zero seconds off

There’s just something about a mechanical watch that does it for me. Quartz is far more accurate over longer periods without a doubt.

Funny this is brought up. I just sold my Seiko 5 automatic because of accuracy. I have several watches I want to wear and the fact that it would lose power and time kinda annoyed me. Lol. I loved the watch but would rather have one that kept accurate time. A Bulova Precisionist will be a future watch because it's a smooth sweeping quartz. But my next watch will be a Casio Oceanus OCW-T150-2AJF. Solar, titanium and gets a radio signal from the atomic clock.

I use a free app on the phone. Not sure how well it works in comparison to a real timegrapher but it appears to be consistent between watches and how it runs on the wrist.

It's always a cool feeling when a good watch has been set to the network time and the second hand sweeps past 12 almost perfectly with your phone after it's been running for a good while.

I would have to say Citizen and Casio are about the best quartz options for watches.

Found a decent Chinese knock off Speedmaster that’s nice enough to wear but not be worried about $6000 getting banged into stuff.

Another cheap watch, this one designed to look similar to a Blancpain 50 Fathoms but not cost $20k. It uses the common Seiko NH35/38 movement so it should be reliable and accurate and has better lume than some more expensive watches I own. Came with a black nylon nato strap but I dislike the extra thickness with the layer under the watch body and swapped this rubber strap in from the parts bin.

That’s the one part I have a hard time trusting on Chinese watches. The movement, crystal, style, etc is pretty easy to verify but there’s only one way to find out if it has o-rings and can handle being submerged.

Which G-shock is that? I love it. I haven’t worn a G-shock in years but that makes me consider getting another one.

I had to look it up and re learned some of the features. Forgot it has a sapphire crystal and the second hand is carbon fiber. It's almost 10 years old and the solar and atomic time keeping is still on point.

That’s awesome, thanks! I might have to get one for myself.

Edit: looks like they might not sell that model anymore :(

OG Speedmasters have a 50M water resistance so even a cheap set of o-rings should be able to match that. I love speedies and their history, but they are a bit fragile for my use cases.
