I have an 04 Tacoma with a JVC head unit and want to run a reverse and front camera to a three way switch. I don’t need it to go into reverse automatically when the car is in reverse just need the camera to display on the screen when the switch is flipped to each camera. What is the easiest way to wire this?

It depends on your HU, but making the assumption that it has a reverse signal wire and a single input my thought would be something like:

The switch would energize the reverse line of the HU to activate the camera display, in the front and rear directions.

You also need some sort of 2 to 1 video switch that will output the chosen signal to your HU. One that either 12 V input logic drives the input or switches based on an input being on/off.

    Something like this:
    https://ebay.us/m/gKLDox
    Or this:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...IDEO_AB_OMX_VIDEO_AB_Composite_Video_RCA.html (more example than a recommendation)

If the 12V is driving the cameras or camera switch logic, you are going to need something like an or-gate switch to drive the reverse signal so each side is isolated.

I hate to even ask, but I’m fairly new to wiring stuff. Could you draw a rough diagram of what it would look like?

So I am making an assumption you go with the camera switcher I posted from ebay. If you read it's logic it says:
    2 inputs, Master and Slave
If both are on: Master is shown
If only 1 is on, that one is shown

So the circuit is actually pretty simple: The idea is that you have the switch as power/logic to your cameras as well as the signal for telling the HU to turn on the camera display. The OR-gate (or relay) before the Reverse input keeps the sides isolated so that Rear isn't powering the Front circuit and vice a versa.

    I would say 2 things:
    1. a ready made solution might be way easier than doing it yourself as they have all the logic - https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/products/anytime-backup-and-front-camera-pre-2014
    2. Another option, since you have to pull your HU for wiring this in, could be to find a new HU that has the switch built in it. I have that on my Kenwood unit - on the HU itself.
