This is the underside of our Case 580 bucket at work. You guys think it’s repairable? We were quoted $2500 for a used replacement.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
Here's some how to videos - you may need to adapt to your particular bucket...

Repairable? Yes. As long as there's steel there to weld to, it's possible to repair.

Repairable for less than $2500? Probably not. 1/2" or thicker steel sheet isn't cheap. Nor is the labor to make it into a repaired bucket.

Most likely it's AR plate as well.

The abrasion resistant iron is spendy.

Frankly, I'm amazed that bucket is so worn. The chassis has got to be pretty loose and ready for scrap as well.

I should add we have all the tools, materials and welders on hand. We just haven’t had to repair a bucket before.

The loader is in great shape otherwise. This damage is from the operators always trying to use it like a road grader, I think.

Ha! The trailer's gonna be nicer than my boat!

I acquired an outcast (aire) 13' cat last year. Been wanting a raft for a long time for fishing, but never got into it until the opportunity presented itself. Having a lot of fun with it though, and now I'm eyeing a nicer setup to compliment the trailer/fish with 3 guys, or do an overnighter. There's a super puma on marketplace that's temping me currently. :D

The C section was my first float with it. Ladore would be awesome some day.

Setting up the CK Dub 17 Flex with a switch. The SPOT feature on the 200P is the kind!

Next project. Add some filler to the cylinder head. I sent the cylinders to Kustom Kraft for boring/plating. So I have to add filler for the 2mm bore. Then off to Dr. Lathe.

Yes you can weld on 110 to get started. I did for a few months but moving to 220 makes the whole experience a lot better.

Made this summer of 2022 as one of my first welding projects on my mig 180. I think this was with gas

neat rocket stove! did you cut the large angles yourself?

also thanks for the tips, i thought about having electrician work a 220 outlet to my garage (i had them do it for the dryer and i have room on panel i think) but i wouldnt mind 110 welding, with gas, but i dont want to be popping 20amp breaker all the time...do you think for a lot of welding 110 mig i could do it without tripping the circuit?

maybe this will turn into an electrician project soon...but considering i have no welding project currently, never welded before ever, and the fact that it very quickly climbed towards $1k, maybe ill put this on pause for a bit and play around with it/pop breakers perhaps haha

heres a pic i took last night, i have to figure out how to safely rig the regulator and gas line, never even removed safety cap from a cyl like this before, brought it home in baby seat in my cab haha

im the accountant for marine hydraulics fabricators, around a lot of welding and i have wanted to learn for a long time, starting at 38!

Yep, just cut everything with an angle grinder. Yeah just play around with it. I think youd be fine welding 1/8" stuff. Its been a while sense I've used 110 it wont hurt anything to pop the breaker a few times to learn its limits

Beware $1000 aint much with this type of thing. I thought by $500 welder was expensive then 3 years later I'm placing orders for $1500 in steel and aluminum for various projects.

Its a great time though. So helpful to fix random stuff around the house.

thats awesome, maybe ill put together a little rocket stove sometime for a learning project
and i hear you about raw materials, i actually purchase a lot of our stock, but can get discount pricing thru work
on most our accounts! zoro, grange, local supply houses, etc.

good idea about just playing with it and pop breaker a few times (i havent done it in 8 years at the house lol
just a pancake compressors out there, ceiling fan, nothing crazy)

thanks for the info once again

You can do a lot of welding on a 20a circuit. It's the really long welds that cause breakers to pop.

Most MIG welds are around 4". It's when you carry a bead for 12" or more that the resistance builds up and trips the breaker.
