My backup camera got hard to see out of on my 2014, I guess scratched up. I replaced it with the Dasbecan one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9Q85M4L

Installing was very simple, like 10-15 minutes, tested it out, was much more clear. I thought I was good. After a bit more use, I realize it is pointing down way too much. I thought about jerry rigging something to point it up more like the factory one. Mabe try some type of washers etc. However, it looks tight up against the top of the hole. Anyone else have this issue with a non OEM replacement camera?
Should I just send it back.? There is no contact seller on the amazon order page to ask a question :-(

Anyone had good luck with a non OEM one from amazon?

I added a single small washer on mine to raise it up a bit and it worked like a charm. Tilts it up and back just enough to be the correct angle with no fitment issues.

Are you sure it's not upside down, if that is possible.

impossible with the bracket to put it in backwards

A little update in case someone else goes this route

The Dasbecan camera pointed down way too much, so I am sending it back.

    I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWGCSR9L/?coliid=I86HFYK9MFEZA&colid=2LR6821QOEEMY

When I installed it was still pointed down too much but not horrible. I tried putting washers on the mounting bolts in made very little difference and wasn't happy with it. So I took the middle part of the camera with tiny screws out from the bracket that bolts to truck. I added tiny washers there and screwed it back in. Worked like a charm. The only issue I had was dropped two of the tiny screws in the garage and took me 45 minutes to find them with a magnet pickup LOL

To measure the angle, I pull truck mostly out of garage. I put blue tape in the center of display screen, and blue tape on the ground where the center maps the blue line in the middle just above it. Then compare original camera to new and modifications with new camera.

The second camera is much more clear especially at night than the Dasbecan and much better than my old one, so pretty happy now. The only thing I'll note, the original backup lines were all blue with a tiny line in the center. This camera has green, yellow, red like modern backup cameras, but no little center line. But worked out well.

Cool, do both these camera work without changes to the factory harness? And you said they’re better resolution? Really would like to upgrade mine (without altering cables, voltages or going down the license plate route) and $35 isn’t too bad.

Both work and are plug and play. The 2014 and 2015s are a bit different than other years, but these both work for those model years. It is only like a 10-15 minute job if you are okay with the angle. Like I said the second one is better, most would be happy as is, I just wanted it a bit higher to match my original and thus played with washers to get it exact.

Thanks. I have a ‘14 and am just looking to upgrade for better resolution on the Joying screen. Will order one of them today. Saw the washer mod for better alignment; will do that.

Update here - installed the Levanlight camera @34blast and am a little bit underwhelmed by the results. While the resolution is clearly better, the wide angle view is significantly curtailed. Will use the new camera for a few days but I think it’s going back and the search will continue.

With the Joying unit, I'm wondering if you can get a better overall camera versus a plug and play one. I still have original radio and screen. In hindsight, I should have provided a before and after photo. Mine was so bad and foggy that I'm pretty happy with new. Sorry if I led you down a bad trail. let me know how it turns out. I was thinking eventually to get something like the Joying unit, but I want my sirius xm built in the radio. I go alot of remote places with no cell service.

Hi guys! I installed the very same camera, and... well, it didn't work! I just got the truck (2014 standard cab) and googled and giggled when I read all you had to do was plug it in. Is there anything else you need to do? Thanks for any tips, I'd really love for this to work!

Maybe the new one is bad? You just unplug the old, remove screw, plug in new, and bolt in new. Test before putting screw back in tailgate.

Hm yeah I guess that could be the case... I've just been returning so much to Amazon lately though, it's a little embarrasing :D It will be worth it if it works though so I'll give it another shot!

No apology necessary. Ordered the Dasbecan (they state a 170 degree wide view; OEM is 150 I think, and my guess is Levanlight ~130). Expecting to mod the positioning per your original post so we’ll see what happens. People have also ordered from Ebay; there are too many listed there and returns are harder -- if someone has a model they can recommend (170 degrees, 720p), please chime in.

Popped in the Dasbecan and it’s a winner. Better resolution and am guessing 150 degrees view (same as OEM).

I just wanted to add one thing, I'm glad your happy with the Dasbecan. The other one I used I think Levanlight on the OG radio display seemed to have a better resolution. Not sure if it was the compatibility or Dasbecan sent to me was faulty. It definitely pointed down more, maybe bad bracket as well. I do notice a bit less angle, but good enough for me and clear enough for me.
