You sold it, so you, and everyone else can guess, or you can ask the guy who bought it what he does to fix it

Crazy to think you are going to get a diagnostic without even having possession of the vehicle

    Because Friday get it? :)

Not necessarily. Maybe he could see what was leaking (and you couldn't) and knew it was an easy fix

The buyer, a toyota mechanic, arrived early, popped the hood, poured a quart of oil over the engine and then squirted some in the tailpipe for good measure.

After a quick lunch the buyer returned. Quelle surprise. Hmm, I guess I'll take it for a third of the asking, he said....

Buyer snuck in at night and oiled her up for a negotiating point.

Or he was planning an LS swap anyway and just got lucky

No chance on that either. I have sufficiant confidence to recognize a catastrophe. I just don't know why it blow up suddenly without any warning or obvious signs i.e. knocking, grinding, stuttering, not starting.

Did he actually "drive it away", or did he tow it away? If he drove it away, it obviously wasn't too serious, and as a Toyota mechanic knew that.

No chance eh? Whatever you need to tell yourself to make you feel better. Never heard of any of what you described happening to anyone.

Well, I would have poked around in there and at least checked the oil and all the obvious stuff. You didnt even look at it, you saw oil and freaked out. Ok, Im done.

How much more needs to be done when oil is in the radiator reservoir, oil coming out the tail pipe, oil all over the engine bay and engine check coming on?

I'm guessing a seal blew while it was still running and you didn't notice until later

As to why it was coming out the tail pipe, the only thing that could really do that is if a valve seal completely failed or the piston rings grenaded

Almost sounds like a head failure if it's that big a mess

Bro, you're looking for confirmation from us after you let the truck go for 2,500

How the hell are we supposed to know what happened? You had a chance to look but you chose not to. You pivot back and forth between telling us it was too big to fix and asking us how it could've happened..

OP can't be bothered to respond to a simple question of whether the buyer actually "drove it away."

    Congrats on the outcome!

Out of the several gifs I’ve saved that would fit. It has to be this one
