Has anyone used the "onX Offroad" app for navagating off-roading? I am tempted to give it a try since they have a 50% off deal now for Memorial day that when using code MEMDAY25 by June 5, 2025 to snag the savings. Their 2 plans are either Premimum for $17.50 or Elite for $49.99 annually. Both plans seem fairly comprehensive, very well designed, and loaded with many features.

I have found myself in areas with no cell coverage and this app will allow you to download maps so even if no cell coverage, it will work with your GPS in your vehicle and use either Apple car play or android auto to display on your console.

I have downloaded the 7 day free trial and it does seem fairly loaded with features, but I haven't used it in my truck yet.

Its a good one to have but if i remember correctly. For downloading maps, size and zoom are a little limited, compared to other options. I feel GIA GPS is far and above the best. it sucks that we cant get the SAT data view to show on the toyota screen.

I have used it and works well. Keep in mind you can download offline maps with google maps, but if you want trails and stuff OnX is what I would use.

I use onX for hunting and it shows a lot of roads and trials, But I will say if you are going to be on BLM or USFS get one of their maps from their office. The map still shows a little more detail that onX misses on Marking or Numbers.

    I use it frequently.

I also like the features in Gaia, but it's a bit buggy with Carplay. But it still works.

I just signed up for a year using their Memorial Day discount. It actually looks pretty cool on the truck display.

Works well. I used it for the TWAT and didn’t have too much of an issue except I forgot to DL the map area and when I ran out of service I got a little boned. It does NOT provide turn by turn directions so don’t expect it to like other people I saw online. Best bet is to have a Garmin GPS as a backup and download maps if you know the cell coverage will be sketchy.
I’ll hopefully be doing the 7 mile plane crash trail this year and the plan is to use onX and my Garmin handheld.

Yeah I like it. Been using it for years when I had my Wrangler. Be sure to download maps in advance if you're going somewhere where cell service is sketchy.

Are you asking how you get the OnX maps on the head unit? Their app is CarPlay compatible so it shows up as an available app in CarPlay. That's how I do it anyway. Their site says the Android Auto version can do the same.

Thank you, sorry for being lame. I didn’t realize that the app automatically goes to the head unit. I’ll have to link it up somehow.

    Thanks,
    Marc

I have an android and can confirm it will show up on the head unit. The app is a little clunky on the screen on androids though, its more usable on the phone itself tbh.

Nothing lame about your question :) Since it's a CarPlay compatible app, if you have OnX installed on your iPhone it should show up on the list of available applications when in CarPlay. Probably pretty similar for Android Auto.
