Recently found RAD Designs and they started to offer a bolt on / plug and play solution for a 3rd brake light that met my need of having an NMO mount and Baja Designs S2's. I know there are others on the market, but this was my favorite look.

Chose the 3d printed option and it's a super nice / quality piece. The tolerance is very good when fitting the s2's and pressed/bolted in easily. I wish I took a photo but the brake/cargo light harness - plug was PnP for my 2016 TRD OR dcsb. They did include a separate Y harness for the s2's which will be tied to it's own switch.

Pulling the oem brake light off was the challenge in itself as it was awkward to get a socket into the area behind the headliner. Just need to be careful to not drop the socket into the crevice. Included was a foam gasket already applied on the housing and once again, fitment was as perfect as it could be. Contours to the cab nicely and the footprint is not too big.

Customer service with RAD Designs is awesome. They are very active on instagram which was my main point of contact with them. At the time of my ordering, it was a short couple business days as I know some of their items are built to order. I had a question regarding install and they got back to me quickly, so communication is great.

Just wanted to share a new product as I know they started off with other vehicle offerings and just released this 3rd brake light for the Tacoma market :)

Do you have to remove the headliner to get the oem one out?

    No brake light?

brake light are the two LED bulbs up top, cargo lights are the two bulbs on the bottom. you only remove the two little hanger clips on the back. No need to drop the whole headliner

I have a Morimoto 3rd brake light that has bad clearcoat flaking on top after just over a year of use and am weighing this as an option for replacement. I see there’s mounting bolts on the outside but double cabs only bolt the 3rd brake light on from the interior. How exactly do those mounting bolts in your photo work?

I’m interested in the billet option but also considering the composite. I’d probably run 1 amber wide cornering as a dust light and 1 clear diffused work/ scene S2 to get some extra bed and scene lighting, but wondering if it not being angled down will work well enough for that. I’d be interested in output pics from the side if you can get any. I’m not sold that the tiny round lights included work ok for bed lighting like stated on their website. I have a 2016 too and don’t have factory bed lighting so I’d prefer to have some form of cargo area illumination without getting a bedrail lighting kit for that.
