My wife informed me she is going to buy me a set of wheels and tires for my 2016 Tacoma sr5.

It has stock. All the wheels I am looking at are 16x8 or 16x8.5 both with 0 offset. I have factory mudflaps and airdam. I been going back and forth between getting 265/70r16 or 265/75r16. I have read about 100 forums and videos. Some say the 75's fit with factory mud flaps no issues at all and others say they rub them and the air dam. Any recommendations which tire to go with. I don't want to remove either the air damn or mudflaps for now.(Willing to buy different mudflaps if needed) Just looking for a better looking tire that is abit better for snow, wet/light off road if needed but keeps decent road ride.I am sorry for another what size tire thread. Just got to make sure whatever she gets is right or I will never get anything else but grief lol

Also is there any market for my sr5 wheels.last thing I need is more crap laying around lol

Go for 17" wheels instead and 265/70/17 tires in SL rating. Go for positive wheel offset

265/75/16 will clear with no modifications
factory wheels will sell if you list them; probably not a huge demand, but they'll sell
Another recommendation for 17" wheels 17x8.5 with zero offset and 265/70/17 tires
There's a lot more tire choices with a 17" wheel
16" tire options are limited and 265/75/16 tires are mostly E rated (stiff sidewall, rides rough)

I'd recommend that TRD Baja street lock rims or the TRD PRO matte black wheels.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
If you want to run 0 offset wheels with 1” up tires, I would probably get a different set of mudflaps made for running lower offset wheels.

I’m on 17x8.5 0 offset wheels on 265/70R17 tires (same diameter as 265/75R16 tires) AND I took off the factory mudflaps. Although I don’t rub around town, I do rub when off-roading, only in scenarios where my suspension is compressed and my steering is on full-lock/almost full-lock. It rubs on the plastic rear tab on the front fender.

I lived with it until I recently increased some positive caster in hopes of mitigating that issue. If it still rubs, I’ll just continue to live with it. It’s only plastic and it occurs very rarely in specific scenarios.

As of the market for your old SR5 wheels, you can definitely try to post them up on marketplace, maybe for a cheap price if you want them gone quickly. Chances are there’s a market for most stock parts; my friend sold his ‘96 4Runner SR5 wheels within an hour LOL.

16" Simply look right on a tacoma. - No ifs, ands, or buts.

17" are only 3" from 20"s - and those just look stupid. :D

255/85r16 gang here, they do work.

Now if I were to do it all over again, after lift etc, I'd go with 17" rims and 35x10.5r17 Kendas.

Lots more sizes available for + size tires with 17" rims

As a tire tech, + 1 on this. I have 255/85/16 and we have exactly... 2 options in all terrainish pizza cutters. My next set of tires will be 17s.

Theres just so much space with a UCA and small lift (skinnys galore). My truck is the one who looks like he skipped leg day, but, no CMC , and isnt rubbing on anything. The other truck is on 285's CMC'd and waiting to install UCA...go with 17's give yourself options. You'll want them down the line.

Thanks for all the advice, looks like everything is on hold. Check engine light just came on with trac light and getting p0032 and p0052 codes. Had truck exactly 3 days. Got to get this figured out before I drop money on pretty stuff.

265/75/16 look sooo much better than 265/70, and do not rub. But once you go aftermarket rims with a different offset, then all bets are off on rubbing!

    Do it, do it!

Finally got truck back from dealership, so far so good. Said bad ground wire. Here is to hoping lol and back in the tire and wheel market. Thinking of getting aftermarket mud flaps to limit chance if rubbing. Still have the factory air dam under front bumper, trying to figure it if I want to remove that or keep it. Don't look like leaves much room for a bigger wheel/tire
