Just dropping in to say hey. Life has been a ride and I haven’t had a ton of time lately to pop in here.

I am beginning to see some early signs of potential supply issues with stainless. I’m not sure how bad this will get or how long it will be a thing, but we are buying as much as we can.

If you’ve been on the fence, now might be your time to jump in before potential supply disruptions.
We hope everyone is doing well!

In very early stages of birthing a new Y pipe more tailored to off-road guys looking for extra clearance for skids etc. This is version 1 being done on my truck. The wife’s will get the final variation.

Dual ultra quiet resonators to a street power muffler. It is likely these will only be offered in 2.5” variation due to clearance. And it will require either fabbing a new exhaust or buying the entire kit. We plan to have some pretty cool options to tailor everybody’s needs, wants and desires.

4 Y-pipes in the line right now. Burned so much filler this evening my regulator was freezing up. It’s good to be back in my happy place after yet another run of losing a family member last week.

Thanks for all of the support guys!

2021 TRD OffRoad 4 door 6 ft bed 3.5 Auto
I have been lurking here for several years. Thank you, to everyone on here who posts valuable information.

    2021 TRD Off Road, 4 door, 6 ft bed, 3.5 L, Auto

Flew to Minnesota to buy the pick up. Basically bought it by text message. Inver Grove Toyota, great place. Patrick McDaniels, very good, honest salesperson.

Test drove Tacoma but should have done a better job. Did not realize how bad the gearing was for this truck. (JBL stereo horrible as well. Many, many, trials. Trail Grid Pro, plug and play, awesome. Great people to work with).

Nitro 4.88 gears on stock good.

AFE Mach Force exhaust, OEM exit. KDMax CPU.

Added front bumper, 10,000 pound winch, rear bumper, rock sliders, front locker, tool box with tools, 17 inch wheels(-12), 33 tires, 2.75 inch lift. Terrible driving.

5.29 Nitro gears. One inch riser on intake.

It drove much better but there was still lag after making a turn. Mash the gas, nothing. Mash the gas, nothing. Mash the gas, nothing. Then WHAM!!!!! Shifts down and takes off like a bat out of hell.

Noted that the truck knew when the wheel was turned. When took off from red light truck started in first gear. When took off with wheel turned I started in second gear. After making a turn the truck would not shift down. I would be pressing the gas pedal with the truck in 3rd and sometimes 4th gear. NOT SMOOTH AT ALL!

I drive FM roads here in Texas alot. On the exit of curves I wanted to press the gas pedal and the truck shift down to 3rd or 4th gear depending on the turn. It never happened. Same thing, press nothing, press nothing, press nothing, and then WHAMM!!

Talked with my cousin who has worked in a mechanic shop since he was 4-5 years old. He said "take the traction control off". HALLELUJAH!!! Truck now shifts normally on curves and coming out of turns.

Still not satisfied with the dead spot in torque. Ya'll know what I am talking about. Mash the pedal, mash the pedal, mash the pedal, and then HOLD ON!! I wanted smooth acceleration without all of the herky jerky.

In addition the Mach 2 did have a drone. I had a '64 Chevy, straight six, motor work, headers back in high school(could not keep pinions from shearing). A six cylinder can sound good. I was looking at adding a resonator.

    SUB-ZERO

Found Sub-Zero here on Tacoma World. Read alot. Talked to my cousin. Maybe the missing piece of the puzzle.

    Ordered the equal length Y-Pipe.

I am not going to talk about seat of the pants torque or HP. I am going to tell you how it drives. WOW! WOW! WOW!

Much smoother transitions between gears. Does not shift down 4th Gear when going EIGHTY FIVE miles an hour on the Interstate,SCREAMING. Now it gently shifts out of 6th to 5th and by the top of the overpass it is already back in 6th.

A gust of wind does not cause it to shift gears.

And praise the Lord, after a turn or coming out of a corner it shifts down as it should and pulls you out of the corner. It does it smoothly and and with no fuss or mess.

Also, merging onto the 75 mph or 80 mph interstate is a smooth and non herky jerky affair. It's like the gears finally know where they should be.

SUB-ZERO allows me to drive my truck without getting pissed off. I really wish I would could have done this before all of the other things just to see the difference it made on it's own.

Now the sound. AWESOME! I do not turn my air conditioner on until it is over 95-96 degrees. Window down, back window open, and since this truck came with a sun roof, it is open as well. When you get on the gas you hear a solid, smooth, tailored exhaust that is a woman saying yeeeess(shift), yeeeesss(shift), yeeeess(shift), and then AHHHHHH(fifth gear), and then smoke a cigarette(sixth gear). Very pleasant baaaaaaahhhhhhhh. Shift down to fifth you hear it but not annoying. In fourth she gets a little excited.

These pipes truly are a work of art. I did not follow the instructions on install and did not loosely assemble before getting under the pickup. I thought " he sent me the wrong pipe, there is no way in hell this will work". Crawled out and followed instructions. Fit like a glove.

The only other issue I had was with one of the V Clamps. First time using a V clamp. Very interesting. Put it on and drove it. Great. Then next day when I drove I developed and exhaust leak on the straight pipe V clamp(It did sound pretty mean but it was loud). Just be sure you tighten the V clamp before tightening the bolts on the pipe just before the muffler(and don't over torque).

Long post but I will say; BUY THIS Y-PIPE!!!!!!

I think I was the test truck for the 3rd Gen.

You cannot go wrong with this product...it truly changes your driving experience and will make you like your truck more.

Plus @906taco is one of the most "real" people you will ever meet.

I dig the dual resonator set up.

Have you tested fitment on 3rd gen 6MTs? I would be interested in any offerings for that

I and everyone else appreciates your generosity in allowing a new product to be developed on your truck! I cannot thank you enough for that!

The standard EL Y for the 3rd gen will clear the 6MT just fine. I hope to follow up with a 3rd gen high clearance upon completion of the 2nd gen.

I have a video up on my IG story of a sound clip from the dual resonator EL setup done on mine. This is a full system, headers and all.

Noice. I'd like a high clearance version.

Edit: would these be plug and play?

Yes. The high clearance however is going to be a full system Y pipe back. It was really the only way to accomplish this.

Depending on the vote from the masses, we would like to route where the spare tire used to be and dump out near the rear bumper. We will cross this bridge when we get there.

Ended up having to go a different route, but still really interested in seeing how you tackle the high clearance exhaust. Still planning on it being equal length?

As of now the goal is to keep it equal length. A few posts up and you will see how I did it on my truck. This was a “proof of concept” more than anything. The wife’s truck will get the actual stuff I plan to reproduce.

I have been so slammed for the last couple of months, I wasn’t sure I would be able to wrap up my own truck.

I made a decision to set tasks for the Mrs., doing things I knew she could handle. She turned into a very essential part of having this out of the shop! It makes me smile to see her use the same level of detail and pride as I would.

We managed to put in about 150 miles this weekend, absolutely trouble free!

Super interested in the high clearance exhaust. I also like the fact to keep it on the quiet side with the resonators and larger muffler. I got 2nd gen 4.0l 6MT 4wd.

Even if not running a spare there lots of people are using that space in different ways. Also make sure it won't impact clearance for those running high clearance bumpers without the stock hitch.

Any chance of the high clearance version being available to work with secondary cats in place at some point? Some of us have no choice but to keep them in place.
