Good afternoon fellow Tacoma owners. I am excited to be a part of this community (Finally). I have always wanted a Tacoma and the stars aligned yesterday. I bought a pre-owned 2019 TRD OR with 116,000 miles on it. It's a little on the high side but it is what it is. Can't afford a new one. Haha. Anyway, I obtained a CarFax report from the dealer and used it to create a maintenance log which I have done for our RAV4 and F150. Helps me keep on top of service. Anyway, I learned that the first owner had it serviced and the oil and filter done every 5,000 miles up to 20,000 miles (first 4 changes) and sold it to the second owner who did the oil and filter every 10,000 miles up to the current odometer reading. Not ideal as I like to do them every 5,000 miles for the life of the vehicle. The CarFax also reflected scheduled services (as suggested in the service book) done only up to the 25,000 mile service but didn't specify exactly what was done. So, here is my question. I will hit the 120,000 mile mark in a couple of months i'm sure, but what do you all think I need to get checked and done to my truck? I have no idea if trans or coolant flushes were done nor differential fluid checked. I plan on making this truck last a long time. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I live in the Tri-cities area of Tennessee so any suggestions for service and mechanics are also appreciated.
Thank you all in advance and stay safe y'all.

Trans is questionable, doing it at 120 could possibly cause harm but I would do nothing more than a drain and fill, certainly don’t flush it.

As far as the rest it’s all a no brainer and all easy and inexpensive services so you may as well do them and know where you’re at. Difs and transfer case, power steering fluid, brake fluid, plugs if they weren’t done.

check out “Team oil drop” on YouTube. He’s got how to videos on just about all maintenance on the 3rd gen.

Working on a lien delete for my title…..

Team Oil Drop also has Maintenance Maps, which are very helpful IMO.

IMO since you’re uncertain after 25K I would complete all recommended maintenance from 25K to your current mileage.

Crazy how much different people drive. I just bought my 2019 TRDOR a few months ago with 13,800 miles.

Ahh, my mistake. First Tacoma and I assumed all TRD models were PRO. I made the changes on my profile and post. Thanks.

if you haven’t done so already, find a copy of the 2019 Tacoma brochure ….explains in great detail what comes and doesn’t come with the factory Tacoma trims.

Welcome to TW... Nice clean looking truck.. Looks pretty stock, stick around long and that will change... lol

Maintenance wise starting with the 120K on everything but the transmission... On the trans it is recommended to only do a drain and fill but on yours not knowing anything about it, I would do a pan drop...

This is a very opinionated and controversial topic when it comes to servicing (multi geared) automatic transmissions to say the least…
If you have zero history on the transmission maintenance or repairs then I would highly recommend taking it to a transmission shop and have them check it out 1st…

Changing your fluid cannot cause any damage by itself, if everything is fine inside the transmission… The issues start to appear when you change the fluid if your clutches are already worn or damaged from use. If you go and replace the fluid after they are already worn out. this can cause slipping…

Look at the color of the fluid, smell the fluid,… And worst case, drop the pan and use a transmission drain pan to catch all the fluid that comes out and then see what all is in the pan… An experienced transmission builder can tell the differences in materials in the bottom of the pan, like friction material, variety of materials, such as bronze, steel-backed babbitt, plastic, nylon, or cast iron, parts of snap-rings etc etc… You can feel the grit from the clutch friction material…

You can put the old fluid right back in it if it looks like it will require a rebuild… Done it many times when a customer didn’t want or have the budget to rebuild the transmission…

What happens is the same friction material that makes the clutch friction disc grip to the steels in the clutch packs (bands are the same way) as it wears off the friction material from the disc mixes with the ATF and causes it to grip… Remove that gritty fluid and put in fresh ATF, now you no longer have (or very little) that grit in the fluid as well as on the clutch fabrics (disc) and now it slips or no longer moves under it’s own power…

These are what old (used) good friction disc look like during a rebuild… Notice the teeth on the inner part of the disc…

These are very bad friction disc on a rebuild… to the right, notice the inner teeth disc, the friction material is about gone…

    And these are wasted… lol
