Speaking of cleaning, I washed and waxed the truck by hand for the first time since I bought it this winter. Came out pretty good but I'm going to have to wet sand and fill a couple scratches from the PO. I think his dog liked to jump up to the windows to say hi.

I always thought rock lights were kind of eye rollish until a couple years ago when I had to get off a mountain after dark on a sketchy trail with my brother walking backwards with a flashlight spotting me, and then I kinda got the concept. Finally installed some.

I'm surprised the neighborhood critters haven't discovered it and set up home in there. If you can't find a new or salvage box, maybe you could find some glass jar lids and stick them over the holes to cover them. Clean the surfaces and run a small bead of weather strip adhesive around the lids. Let it set for a few minutes and stick them on over the holes. Aluminum tape over the holes might work too.

Installed an LED panel light that I purchased from Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D3BVXZ33?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

The brightness to fill the cab is a big change from the previous four diode light that I installed years ago.

The I tackled the recent issue of my stuck tailgate. I have a Bak Flip tri-fold bed cover and in order for me to open it, I had to use a couple of stainless steel rods to access the drawstring under the bed cover.
    IMG_5965.jpg IMG_5964.jpg

I then opened the rear panel behind the tailgate and had to use a 90 degree socket adapter to remove the side torx screws. Upon inspection of the Pop and Lock, everything look fine but I went ahead and changed it out with another color matched Pop and Lock that I have. Come to find out the lock mechanisms on the sides of the tailgate needed grease. I put a healthy coating of white lithium grease and gave it a few test open and closures of the tail gate to make sure everything is good. All is well now but now it's making me think about purchasing the BP Fabrication inner tailgate door which allows access to the lock mechanisms as well as provide some storage. I'm just not sure about it's price point of over $300. I gave the clay bar treatment over the replacement Pop & Lock post photo which helped in removing the embedded dirt. Pop & Lock is not known for their paint quality finish.

Ha! They're ugly as sin but perfect for anything where my feet get wet. Plus the basketball shorts so there's nothing to scratch the paint when I'm climbing on the truck, and I've got a really terrible look going.

Nice lamp. Can you tell us if this dome light LED module is plug-and-play or are additional resistors required/need to be added to make it work? I could really use a brighter dome light, but have hesitated fiddling with any wiring in the truck after a negative past experience with random electrical gremlins after adding or changing something "on the grid". I see it indicates as such, but would like to confirm. I believe the body control module monitors the dome lamp and can "talk/communicate" with it to shut it off after a while if you forget and leave it on.

Replaced the gear shift indicator lamp with an led and it’s much brighter and matches the other lights now

This is what I did for even light distribution because of the LED.

They are T5 led bulbs from Amazon and you can get them in just about any color. It’s a really snug fit but they do work!

This can be interpreted in many ways, but if the context is that your transmission is shot…I hate to hear that. Like rebuild shot or need new?

Spoke to @blackgen2tacoma , says it sounds like I blew the rear end. Was at a light, pressed the gas and BAM! Truck wouldn’t go anywhere. Moves in 4WD, driveshaft spins in 2WD in drive but truck doesn’t move.
