Yeah, I am going to take your process to heart for sure. Likely I'll be installing that like you did...solo!
I was originally going for an aluminum one, hence the price on the RCI. Even going powder coated steel they still wanted $540 including shipping. But I couldn't pass up saving $150 for the MillerCat. Killer that MillerCat's doing free shipping...I was surprised.

    A

And fast too...FedEx is supposed to have it here by Wed. Fingers crossed. Lately 2 day shipping has meant more like 5 day shipping.

Thanks for posting all that---- it was very helpful info. So far, the MCX is the one I like as well.

Haven't pulled the trigger yet myself, but likely will pretty soon (tax refund perhaps). When you get yours, please post your thoughts if you have time.

Reviving an older thread here, do we know if any of the transfer case skids fit the SR5?

Sorry I didn't post earlier. Love this! Skid plate went on like a dream and has been completely awesome since installed. I've done two oil changes and they are a breeze with the access plates. I haven't been off road with it yet, however I have hit a couple truck tire retreads on the highway and it's done a great job deflecting them. Can't recommend it enough. Only thing is to watch out for putting the screws in the cover plates. The screws are stainless steel and the cover plate and Skid plate are aluminum so it's easy to strip the threads on the skid plate where the cover plate screw goes in. I did that with One of the screws for the plate over the oil plug and I'm going to have to re-tap it. Also, because of that, I will be removing the cover plates on the days that I take it in for Toyota dealership to do the "free" oil change. The two oil changes I've done so far have been done by me. Frankly, I don't trust the dealership guys to not strip the threads on the plate where the screw goes in. I only get two "free" oil changes so that will only happen twice.

Just ordered the RC skid plate for my SR5 so that I don't have to look at that felt cover for too long once I remove the air dam. I think it'll be fine for some light off-roading, not gonna be bashing rocks in Moab or anything with it.

I've been super happy w/ it as well---- definitely a good add. Also agree re the oil changes being convenient (actually leaning towards skipping the two free oil changes at dealership because of how many horror stories out there detailing the damage caused by techs who either don't know what they're doing or just don't give a shit about someone else's truck).

Had RCI aluminum plates on my 2016 4Runner. Beat the crap out of them and they were spectacular.

Im trying some victory 4x4 plates in aluminum. I like how it wraps the LCA mounts a little better. I just got the main one for right now as i have ideas of making my trans skid. will install it with some pics next week after i install

Ended up pulling the trigger on some Rival plates. Engine and Trans installed. Will likely get the transfer case skid as well. Really impressed with the quality.
