    I worked there for 6 months. And didn't have the time to go see it. The shipping container place was near the base, so I got to see it from afar. And didn't have a car. And we were staying out in the middle of nowhere at some guy's house. We were doing remodels on Long's drug stores. Work at night. Sleep a little,then finish up the punch list on the others. Was kind of a suck ass job. We were staying up in the hills in Waianae. Hawaii. Weekends, the locals owned the beach. Got told by a 300lbs plus Samoan. He was nice about it. So we worked.

    The truth is, I usually stay home for vacation too. Already been there for work. And don't like tourists anyway.

    Sounds like a stint I had in New Orleans one summer. Granted it was like 17 years ago but it was 12-hour days and you were too dead at night to do anything anyway so you slept in the swamp ass heat.

    Still as far as Hawaii goes, I wouldn't mind even doing manual labor and such for a little bit just in a different atmosphere.

    I have heard a lot both from people who've been there and just online of how the locals tend to detest tourists despite the fact that tourism basically runs their economy. On one hand I get it cuz I hate people on the other hand like don't bite the hand that feeds you

    With all that being said, 100% respect to anybody local versus me being an ignorant tourist if it ever happens lol
