Dealership or elsewhere for oil change?

The first thing I do on Amazon is look at the 1 star reviews to see what problems people have. Maybe I overlooked the date on them, but it got me worried.

$7 isn't much, but it's still money I earned and I'm not going to throw it down the drain if I can help it.

Other factor when servicing it yourself is it's a good time while you're under there to take a look all around the underside and maybe be pro-active with any problems noticed ie- oil leaking, shocks shot, rust areas of concern, etc.
Can't help but to take the opportunity to relay the incident I had at my local dealership... only new truck I ever had (my baby) figured I'd let dealership do the changes while under warranty so very 1st oil change/tire rotation, dealership neglected to tighten ANY of the lugs on the RRwheel. Felt like I was driving on ice all the way home at 70+MPH, must of been centrifugal force that kept the wheel on the axle. Dealership got to bring a tow truck to my house at 7PM, take it back, tighten everything. Tech begged me to not report him (evening hours he was alone), complained about all the hours they have to work. After getting his written statement on what happened I promised him I would not report the incident unless down the road I have problems (didn't have any problems so I didn't report him) but I did start using a dealership another 30 minute drive further away from this one.

 

Do it yourself,no many People care for your vehicle like you would.

 

yours is the easiest to change, since the filter is right there in the engine bay . takes 15 minutes. watch a youtube and get crackin'

 

Buy Toyota OEM filters by the case of ten, you can get them for $6 and have a stock pile. Then a add a Fumoto valve. Literally, takes me 15 mins Max to change the oil.

Connect a hose to the Fumoto valve and let the old oil drain into an empty 5qt oil bottle.

Pop the hood, change the filter.

By the time your done with that your old oil is in your old 5qt bottle.

Close the valve, remove the hose.

Put the cap on the bottle of old oil.

Fill 'er up with new oil.

Done! Without even needing to get dirty or deal with oil.

Oil changes, I do myself.

 

Fumoto valve and a Motivx oil change kit makes it a 15 minute job. I do it myself every 5k miles.

Appreciate it, it's still in very good condition inside and out. Searching for a lower intake. Bought it new in 93, never had any issues with the original engine until 2022. Buddy of mine had a black one, which was definitely a sharp color in that model.
