It is entirely your fault that I wanted 3.0’s. One day I’ll catch up to you

Next time I’m up there let’s do it. I’m gonna plan a trip one of these weekends soon. Putting a WDH on our trailer so it’s less shitty going up the hill.

Also need to fill my shocks with nitrogen. They’re a little low

    From JD fabs site:
Now available for the 2nd and 3rd Tacoma is a complete TC pump steering solution!

If you own a Tacoma then you are all too familiar with the feed back felt through the steering wheel when you hit even the smallest bumps. The issue with the OEM steering pump has to do with the internal check valves that the Toyota pump uses. The check valves limit the line pressure coming out of the pump until steering input is needed at which time they allow the line pressure to ramp up. When larger tires are added there is an addition load placed on the steering system and the OE check valves can't ramp the pressure up fast enough to combat the steering forces. The result is the additional forces are transferred into the steering wheel. People often confuse the steering wheel moving back and forth as "bump steer" however this is not the case, what you are feeling in the steering wheel is the pumps inability to ramp the line pressure fast enough.

Our solution to the check valve issue is to swap out the OEM steering pump for a HOWE TC pump. The TC pump is a GM style pump that is designed for off road applications. The TC pump ramps the line pressure up much faster that the OE unit thus eliminating the feedback felt through the steering wheel. In addition to the pump our kit includes HOWE's much larger fabricated reservoir with filter and inline cooler. We also include all mounting brackets, lines, fittings, belt and hardware necessary to bolt the kit to your 2nd gen Tacoma. Again this is a 100% bolt on kit as we do the pump modifications in house and supply you with a custom pulley from HOWE. In our opinion this is a must have mod for any Tacoma that's driven in the dirt!

    Good luck

I have several contacts with king, as well as do a ton of stuff for them, plus sell $100k/year of their product and our margins are terrible, and for my personal truck they gave me an extra 3% off and thought it was generous.

I've emailed their marketing manager a couple times with a referral from another king employee and still never even got a response.

Got the suspension how I like it for the type of driving I do, running an 18" 500 lb spring up front on an 8 inch coilover, which without the bypasses would probably be too soft but it works. Works well.

Currently have 0 treads showing on passenger side and 1 inch showing on drivers, had to compress the springs to even install. Also I am showing 6 inches of shock shaft at ride height.

Tired of the front being so high so I'm going to order a set of 16 inch 500lb springs instead. Was curious what kind of threads will be showing with 16x500s?

Current measurements: Spring length compressed 14" Spring length full droop 16"

If you go to www.kartek.com you can check each springs compressed length and available travel. EX:Blue King Shocks 500 Pound 16" Tall Spring For 2.5" Diameter King, Sway-A-Way Or Fox Coil Over Shock - Kartek Off-Road You will see the 16"x500lb only has 8.48" of available travel. Compared to the 9.57" for the 18"x500lb. Blue King Shocks 500 Pound 18" Tall Spring For 2.5" Diameter King, Sway-A-Way Or Fox Coil Over Shock - Kartek Off-Road The 16" would come very close to coil bind unless there is a built-in margin that is not mentioned. Still from Kartek this Eibach spring may be a better choice than a 16"Silver Eibach 450 Pound 18" Tall Spring For 2.5" Diameter King, Sway-A-Way Or Fox Coil Over Shocks - Kartek Off-Road

Make sure to calculate how much of the available spring travel is remaining after installed and ride height set. Most likely why 18" are used.

Most of these kits don't actually use all of the shock stroke though, so if you cycle and measure you might be ok.
