It's not bad to haul around. Definitely easier for you than me. It was a little hard to get out of the 4runner. I was going to put it on my swing out, but there's not enough room.

The 1.5 badlands jack thats coming out is something I might consider keeping in the truck.

Victory 4x4. The swing outs aren't that big, so I'll have some other overland equipment on it.

There's a new one coming out?

Anyone in the market for a 3rd gen 40% rear seat delete from goose? Taking the tacoma in a different direction since I just bought a 4runner. I'll have a C4 Fab rear swingout for sale as well once my Warfab bumper shipping issue gets fixed.

I only recognize Rob’s truck haha. I was walking my dog the other day and he honked at me but I had no idea what he was driving and just gave a confused look haha

I commute in from Stafford and it's awesome being a slug! no kidding only 35 min from lot to PNT. No miles, no fuel, always a ride waiting for me and no wear and tear on my truck. See if there is anything like that for you. When I lived in Centreville it would take me on average 45 min going in and 1.15 coming home, so I know what you're saying.

No slug. I did that from Stafford for a few months after I graduated. My parents did it for like 5 or 10 years haha. I’m actually a fan of it but unfortunately the closest thing is this carpool website that matches you with people. I may give that a shot cause that would at least help with some tolls.

You would think after all these years in the region and with all the folks who live out west and further (front royal) who commute in daily there would be a huge commuter lot to ease congestion. But, as a logistician I can tell you that the plans were not fully incorporated because of the PPP on the express lanes. Money over efficiency when the private sector gets involved....that's the straight truth.

Here in Loudoun, there are thousands of commuter parking spaces, most of which are connected to commuter bus stations or the metro.
The problem is that our county's "leaders" wrongly believed that throwing piles of cash at the metro expansion would solve traffic. But they failed to design the metro with express service, so it's 20+ stops to get into the city. Nobody wants to do that. And because the metro consumes so much taxpayer money, the commuter bus service has been cut back repeatedly.
I used to take the bus into DC and Arlington when/if I had clients in convenient locations. My wife still takes the bus 3 or 4 times a week.
It's a great value and stress reliever, but the porous schedule and lack of routes to/from western LoCo will continue to make it less attractive to people.

Yeah I personally am a huge fan of public transit, especially the metro. Comparing DC metro to NYC subway or Boston T I’m picking metro 10/10 times. Level of service, cleanliness, design, schedule, etc is just good compared to the others. With that said, for us outside the city it isn’t usable like said, 1.5 hours in the train plus 20 minutes to get there isn’t great. I’ve seen some college kid trying to get a train out to Purcellville….kind of a wild idea but like also mentioned, these ideas get approved but aren’t fully thought out leaving people screwed over.

I kind of want to try the bus since it can pick up and drop off like 2 blocks from my office…but that schedule is wild and from what I’ve read, space is a major issue. Plus the commute would be 30+ minutes longer a day to save like max $200 a month. If I got a fully electric vehicle it may not even be a saving taking the bus. If I find a carpool then it would be even closer. It’s just one of those things where the savings may not be worth the cost if I account for time in my opportunity cost calculation haha.

I do wonder what it would take to start a slug line. Like it’s really a solid way to commute if you have to do a long commute.

Yeah people think it’s crazy haha. Just getting in a random car, commuting an hour plus and minimal incidents haha. Somehow it works out though and is a good way to get around non-hov tolls

Loudoun has a relatively low number of Federal workers, compared to other NoVa jurisdictions. 17,000 in a population of 440,000. Which means working adults are mostly in private sector jobs. Working irregular hours, long hours, commuting to decentralized locations. Population density is low, as well.
Those are all significant barriers to carpools.

Prince William has similar population but double the Fed employees. And almost double the population density.

Access to HOV likely also plays a role.

Was going to post about the Loudon County Express (https://www.loudoun.gov/commuterbus) then I saw your second post and realized you'd already researched it. I see that bus at the Pentagon daily.

I take OmniRide from Warrenton, and that takes a little over an hour each way...well worth it! I know it is a bit of a drive for you, but the lot in Gainesville off of University Blvd has a bunch of OmniRide options running every 20-30 minutes or so. I think there is one further west near Front Royal as well. To me, I'll gladly trade a longer commute on a bus in the express lanes for not having to sit in traffic like a peasant or pay those astronomical tolls.

    NoVA peeps...

I still have the front coils/shocks and rear shocks off of my '22 that I traded in a few months back. Again, these came off my truck in 2022 with only a few hundred miles on them, and they have been in a box since. They are basically new. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Edit: to add that they came off of a TRD OR 4x4.
