It was actually, the power cord going to the mower shed. Usually I shut the deck off and cross it - guess what I forgot to do?

It yanked it out of the garage outlet and the power port on the shed.
I have this NOCO port on the shed, works great - until you run over the cord with the mower that is.

I realize it's on a slight angle, the reference photo was as well. It looks good slightly to the side, that way you aren't just staring right at your face to see the car

Wow, bet that felt electric! A little buzz in the air? Got a little charge out of it?
    I’ll be here all night…

at least it wasn’t connected to the trickle charger on the lawnmower YOU were driving. We’d have something totally different to talk about… (like Alzheimer’s)… I know SHOCKING!

This is not the right outlet for these comments, maybe you could be slightly less high voltage next time around.

Good morning crew been a busy little bit. Between work and restoring the motorcycle and yardwork / garden.
Got a new project for the winter. Seems I remember about 20 years ago the last guy that worked on the motorcycle said I stripped the bolt hole in your filler plug a little bito_O.
Well that has come to roost.
So my question to the gurus is it's aluminum and it's for the final drive on a 1984 BMW r65ls motorcycle. What would be better a helicoil or time sert. This will be removed about every 10 to 15000 miles to refill.
Now my plan is to re-tap it but the concern it the shavings. Do I tap it with oil in then drain and rinse with kerosine a couple times and refill with gear oil. Wait a week and repeat.
Removing it quit and undertaking but won't know until I get into it.
    What say you?
    Thanks for all your input.

I wouldn't put an insert in it if you can just tap it bigger. It will leak around the insert cause no seal. When you tap it, put grease all over the tap and the chips should stick to it.

Ok I can try to find the right length thread part bolt head size is a 17mm.
If re-taping wouldn't the chips go inside? Or in what I think would just pull out/up ?

Most of the chips should stick to the grease on the tap but you can always flush the engine with some kerosene and hopefully they would come out, if any get in. Or you could use old oil and just let it run through.

I always used timeserts, you’re removing far less material. I always used moly grease on my tap to catch shavings and lube the tap. Clean and reapply as needed. Just my 2 cents. Nice ride!

I’ll agree, but sometimes you just gotta stick to original dimensions… like spark plugs. Timeserts aren’t like helicoil, where they’re Just inserted. They are expanded into the new cut to give original dimension internal. They also have a top lip typically. I used them in vintage vehicles for spark plug holes in aluminum mostly. Some things, like head bolts, etc. you can just get .003 over or whatever, but isn’t always “available”.
