good luck and have fun. I just finished a 2 week road trip with two small kids and the wife. Going down was fun but the return trip was the hardest.(only a really long drive ahead lol) I would go through Canada there and the USA back. Two different trips.

Me Tacoma is refusing to drive me to work today.
I'm 4kms down the road, stopped on the shoulder. Taco is acting like its out of gas, but has sufficient.

was cruising at 90km/h on a paved road, bogged a lil, then slowly died on the way to the curb.

taco will restart everytime, but die within 5 seconds. It never establishes a good idle. I can coax it along with a boot full of throttle, but let off and it fizzles and dies.

    no codes

fuel pump dying? Or Idle air circuit dirty?

Fuel pump resistor probably should not be Bluetooth

That sounds very fuel pump-y to me. I would think with a dirty IAC it'd rev fine, just not idle.

I wonder if the fuel pump resistor being obsoleted by corrosion, let the fuel pump run too hard and start to fail..

Is there a way to load test the fuel pump still installed?

it revs OK, but has a 3,000rpm lower limit, wont work below that. Think im gonna drag it home, figure it out not on a shoulder

It looks like the ECU controls if the Pump runs through the resistor, or direct.

Probably would just be running rich if you bypassed that resistor and just connected the 2 wires. good enough to get home.

Yes, ECU controls low or high speed via the resistor.

    No, it wouldn't run rich.

The fuel pressure regulator is at the end of the fuel rail and all excessive fuel is dumped back to the gas tank. The purpose of the resistor is to run the pump slow in low demand and shift it to high speed during high demand so as to prevent a pressure drop. What determines the air fuel ratio (in a very basic description) is controlled by the sensors in the intake and exhaust .
