Ok well I recently came across a thread about counterfeit spark plugs from Amazon ,I bought spark plugs from Amazon ngk iridium’s over a year ago should I get rid of them is this a thing. I recently got a counterfeit part from eBay for my 1990s ford now I’m kinda paranoid.

They would have misfired by now, I wouldnt worry about it, but moving forward I would suggest only buying spark plugs from brick and mortar shops.

I'm very conscious about prices so I get it, but there's places to cut corners and some you cant. I buy my air filters from Amazon, thats about it.

You are more likely to cause damage changing your plugs again than to be negatively affected by the threat of counterfeit spark plugs. Unless your engine is running terribly quit worrying about online boogeymen

I do have some new ones ready from when advance auto went out of business think I should install those. Honestly didn’t even consider the possibility of a counterfeit

I would PERSONALLY change them out since you already have a set of genuine ready to go. IF they are counterfeit, even though they are firing fine now, you don't know the quality of the thread plating (for example), so they may end up seizing to the head within a short time. This example would be compared to a real NGK/Denso plug plating/coating being of a known high quality. Same with the electrode, ceramic, etc. I mean the chance is admittedly low, but why take a chance when plugs aren't THAT expensive.
    .
That being said, I stopped buying such parts from Amazon and Ebay long ago when counterfeits started to blow up. Amazon is now the American Temu. I DO occasionally buy such parts IF I can confirm the origin - for example, there are some actual Toyota dealers that sell via Ebay. Other than that, I do buy non-critical, miscellaneous branded parts/accessories form both.

    Why?
Like previously stated, you’d have issues by now. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

    Seriously, it’s fine.

Call NGK and asked if they’ve seen any counterfeits in the market for their products and send them a picture. Surely easier than changing all your sparks.

I know you had a bad experience but you’d be like the most unlucky person ever to get multiple counterfeits.

Was the seller Amazon itself or a 3rd party "fulfilled by Amazon"? Parts sold by Amazon tend to be OK. You can also pull out one plug and check the gap. Pick the easiest cylinder to acess. If the gap is good, then the remaining five are likely OK as well.

But for auto parts or food items I too am cautious with Amazon. For those items I'll typically only purchase if it says 'Sold and shipped by Amazon' or if the seller represents a reputable company. For example I'm not buying Epic meat bars from a seller called Panty Provisions. ;)

    They look legit to me.
They are a real company, not some “no name” fulfillment seller.

They even have a US based customer service line. If they were a scammer, they would have contact info available.

    FSM says 30k.
Of you need and excuse to change them. There it is.

Me, I am not afraid to push them to 50k.
