I have yet to see a press release, but supposedly Toyota USA sold 26,504 Tacomas in May 2025. That’s a very respectable number though I’m sure tariff terror is helping drive sales.

Be interesting to know how many were financed vs cash vs leased.

Then if the bubble bursts as many are predicting what the repo and early lease return % rates will be,

Could we see the used market flooded with unexpected inventory?

I was one of them. I took advantage of 60 months/4.9% and 10% off MSRP. I could have paid cash but only financed 30K of it. Rather keep the cash on hand "just in case" and pay a little more interest. If I'm feeling saucy I'll pay extra to knock it down faster too.

Good sale numbers … majority of them will be traded back in …. Seeing a lot of these new trucks with low miles at dealerships already being traded in … maybe due to failing transmissions and other recalls . Toyota did put out the 5k off new Tacomas ..why numbers have increased . I’m waiting till 26 to let them work out the issues .

We already talked about this. There seems like a lot of new trade backs because there were a lot of sales. Less than 1% are traded back, the same or better, than other mid-size trucks.

26k in Tacoma unit sales is a tremendous accomplishment for a month. But I love how the shit heads come here and talk trash instead of applauding the achievement.

I guess it’s safe to assume you douche bags have never had a quota. Or owned stock…

I was curious, I did a nationwide search on cars.com and found there are quite a few more used 2023 Tacomas for sale as used 24-25s.

Funny, the complaints and concerns about the 2nd gen gave us the 3rd gen. The whining and complaining about the 3rd gen gave us the 4th gen. Can’t please everyone. :notsure:

The 4th gen being a Toyota Tacoma, I’m sure it’s going to be a fine addition to the Tacoma linage. I’m sure the 5th gen will bring a wrath of condemnation when it arrives as well. Good news is there is lot of competition these days. As long as Midsize trucks remain insanely popular we will have lots to choose from. Don’t know about prices tho.

Yes those are respectable numbers and there's probably some panic buying in the mix. Maybe some commercial fleet sales, and some rental places. I don't know when they buy vehicles. I was a little surprise that there was an increase over last month. I like to think when Tacoma sales are up that's a good sign for the economy but that's small potatos. I'd like to see allocation sales vs off the lot sales, looks as most allocations are purchased and delivered with in a short window if the production schedule allows. I don't see much a difference in a stock vs allocation sale.

When I bought mine there weren't many on the lot. There was only one SR5 4x4 with the cold weather option pack which is what I wanted. Same with Rangers, local Ford dealer had all of one left on the lot. They said their "employee pricing" promo cleaned them out. Chevy dealer had 4-5 Colorados. Might be tariff-related buying, who knows. But when I was looking earlier in the year it seemed like there was a lot more on the lots of all brands to look at.

Those new Colorad ZR2 owners who really wanted a Tacoma were probably busy trading in May.

I never see Rangers on the lot I don't really look but if they have them out front I'd notice.

Blame a lot of early anxiety on Tundra, but the prior-gen skeptics and YouTube echo-chamber artists are going to have to accept that 2024/25 is not 2016/17, and Toyota knocked this one over the fence. The fact that you can now get 10% off for a radically better truck while many people were paying 10% over sticker for 2022/23’s is as strong of a “buy” signal as you’ll ever get.

Next up for a reality check, 4Runner owners…

A few days ago checking if there are brake recall parts yet, my dealer the by far largest in the area and also part of a big chain with several brands and hand full of Toyota stores said the many transmissions failing and lots of recalls for the 4th gen is just bs. She just came from a different brand and their different stores as management to know this. She also pointed out what stays in my mind which is this is a high sales volume vehicle so some problems do show just for that.

My cousin recently retired from service and warranty management in a huge multi-brand chain and he also pointed out stuff like this and the daft in many who don't understand all models that are top sellers just for that mean more warranty claims, but he said the new and most Toyotas remained superior to many in all they sold even though he holds strong bias for Corvettes and Ford pickups. The Tacoma alone has still been outselling all its competitors.
