Is this a direct drop in replacement for our 3rd gens? Any issues with the alternator providing enough charging? Is this a dry battery as opposed to our OEM wet lead/acid batteries?
    Any pros and or cons?

Well, size-wise it's a direct drop-in. Technically, the alternator won't keep it fully charged, AGMs like to run at 14.2-14.4v and that's controlled by the ECU.

AGM batteries are 'wet' batteries, but the acid is absorbed into a fiberglass mesh, so they won't actually spill.

Oh, and the pro would be that they are less prone to sulfidation if they are discharged heavily.

Great looking setup! I’ve heard good things about the G3’s so far. I ran the G2’s years and years ago on my old Ram 1500.

AGM's are sealed (absorbed glass mat), so you can't add distilled water like lead acid. I find lead acid batteries leak. These don't. The alternator needs an updated ecu tune to ensure proper charging voltage. There's some write ups on the forums.

I still have the stock tune. I'll top it off with a noco genius 10 occasionally if/when I remember. I also keep a noco boost gb40 in the center console, but I've never needed it.

They fit the tray, but you'll need an aftermarket battery strap. I think Off Grid Engineering stopped making these a while back.

These are made in Japan, 4 year replacement warranty and under $200. I replace them every 2 years in AZ irregardless, because of extreme heat.

For the price and warranty why not upgrade to AGM? :notsure:

Other than that it's a direct drop in replacement.

edit: higher cca and longer run/storage times when truck is off and they handle abuse better than lead acid (short trips, heavy movement, heat, ect).

edit again: only about 5lbs heavier than the factory battery

Looks good. For the carry, you got the hard mount V2 right? What's the holster you're using in that pic?

Just got my rago mount with bridge installed yesterday. Used an old holster and was able to bolt it in on the side of the bridge via the clip mount bolts. Perfect! Didn't have to buy anything else. Plan to get some other mounts and accessories for other things for sure tho. Piece is usually on me but will holster it here when in the sticks and other rare occasions.

Okay, thanks for the details @OldSchlPunk and @MGMDesertTaco. Much appreciated!

I do have the OTT and apparently I can have the tuner add a bump up in alternator charging.

Ha was joking, mostly. Not a bad thing, just hard to find time to do it all. And find the motivation to do it. The only thing that sucks, is the lead times for some of the products. 6-8 weeks for fender liners. 4-6 weeks for other things. At best, 3-4 weeks for some.. Just finished a 9 day vacation and had planned on doing some mods but nothing worked out due to waiting on parts still. I did order ahead of time, somewhat. But had optimistic hopes something would arrive early. All good tho. She'll get there in due time.

Yes but depending on a few factors- running or clumping (running is where everyone gets there fear of bamboo), clumping stays within a clump but some species have huge diameters (kinda like trees in that aspect I guess but most bamboo roots stay around 18-24” deep which is a benefit imo) and others are more confined. These are used for narrow spaces and is a tight clumper- shoots grow real close together. So it can get pretty thick if you don’t trim out the old/dead. I made the mistake of a heavy prune minus the corner clump late fall, then the cold snap took a bunch of shoots per clump making even thinner and a dry spring meant late shoots popping up. They are just now sending new shoots up except that bare void. I’ll change my routine to 1 thinning a yr of dead in early spring only.
    IMG_2851.jpg IMG_2850.jpg

There’s only 1 void here. Are you talking about the shoots that are hanging down? We just had a rain and it does weight down individual shoots, sometimes it bounces back but these haven’t (the clump is too thinned out and not full enough which helps support each other). I plan on driving metal posts on the outer ends and tie a rope to help support the weight especially when it rains but they do call this graceful bamboo, I just want to keep it from hanging on the grass

Appreciate that, it’s great that it’s only a tiny strip. This photo is when it’s just starting to bounce back from the last mow- I cut it lower (not quite a scalp) and had a bunch of brown stem spots throughout. I have the lawn sprayed/treated monthly so I don’t worry about any of that just the manicure.

So I should trim bushes when? Asking for a friend. (Bushes in general) I couldn’t name one in my yard

My DIY installed bed outlet (12v cig plug and USB charging hub) met a corrosion demise. Learned my lesson on skimping on wire when living in the rust belt. Especially on stuff at the back of the truck. Figured this out when going to put my fridge back in the bed for the season.

Ran a new 8ga marine wire direct from the battery (through a relay controlled by my switch panel so I can turn it on and off through the switch panel) into a nema box I found on Amazon that perfectly fit into the existing bed cubby (link for anyone that also wants the same). Nema box is where any terminations will happen for anything getting power at the rear. Bed outlets, bed usb ports, and power for my relay that controls the rear bumper pod lights. Hopefully we should be good on corrosion moving forward. Buttoned it all up, everything working beautifully just to find out now my fridge died, nice....They're supposedly sending me a new one though so hopefully it all works out, love to see it though.

Also some fancy stickers on my MRR resis I had custom printed up, couldn't find any Arizona cans that would fit on the those resis.
