I really like the greater torque of the hybrid and I like the look of the 18" TRD OR wheels a little better but the lack of storage under the rear seat drastically hindered my desire for the hybrid. I was dead set on a Premium and there is minimal storage behind the set of Premium trucks..... I really needed the storage so no hybrid for me.... I also like the more simplistic non-hybrid. Yes, I 2nd guess my decision from time to time. :p:p

I do not miss my 2nd gen. This new truck is amazing. You can’t compare the two.

I wonder if the JBL variant has fake engine noise and the non-JBL variant doesn’t. That’s how the Tundra is.

Mine is JBL, sounds like a cement mixer with rocks in it, but has the fake engine noise turned off.

Adjusted for inflation, that $36k from mid 2016 is equivalent to nearly $48k today.
    Seems like you saved money.

It's a hybrid because it is a hybrid. Gas plus electric. Batteries under the rear seat.

dealer either didn't understand or didn't explain it well.

the hybrid system here is aimed to provide more power/torque when needed rather than to emphasize increased mpg

i have the Hybrid and truth be told, I only wanted that motor... 465 ft lbs of torque makes a massive difference (to me) in everyday driving.

I like that the car will run on battery only when cruising at really low speeds - and one solid bonus for me is the bed AC inverter supports 1300 watts! I can attach my garage fridge to it and will make a huge difference in what you can run when camping.

So far, i've been really enjoying the driving experience. It's punchy, and very quick off the line, and as for rear seat storage, I don't really miss it at all.

yeah, same for me. recently had need to get everything out of the truck and had a bunch of stuff in there that I didn't need and frankly had forgotten I'd put there a few years back. So lack of underseat storage won't be an issue when I buy a 4G

There's a lengthy stickied thread on the topic: 4th gen Oil Change

Not sure what 2nd gen oil changes involved, but I like that the 4th gen returns to a spin on filter vs the 3rd gen's cartridge filter. Seems like placement coulda been a little better, but that's easily addressed

I looked at a PRO and Trailhunter yesterday, came close, but got cold feet, anyone do a comparison of these? and I wanted white but fell in love with black PRO, then I read that the black paint is thin and owners are complaining, anyone hear of this? TIA.

With the Trailhunter, pay attention to the snorkel and the noise it makes. Crack the passenger side window and see if it annoys you or not. With the Pro, pay attention to the rear seat space (mainly legroom) that you lose due to the iso-dynamic seats.

There have been hit or miss complaints on paint quality, but that seems focused on early production. The biggest issue you'll likely experience is chipping on the rear fender, no matter the color.

People see this and think there is no rear seat legroom.

    Then they buy this.

Looking at the back of the center console, the non-Pro seats are pushed further back than the Pro seats - so not really an apples to apples comparison.

Standard rear seat space: not as much as we’d like.

Pro rear seat space: virtually none.

We could debate millimeters, or Toyota could cut bait on the expensive marketing exercise and just make Iso optional. That way it’s your extra money, your rear passenger’s knees.
