If the seals aren't bad, water isn't going to get into the bearings except by force...

You don't think that sudden extreme temperature changes affect seals?

We went over that. You should be able to touch the hubs after driving 100 miles. If they're getting that hot, you're cooking your grease.

Grease can survive a lot higher temperature than I can.

Edit: so, you don't think that submerging the bearings in cool water has any effect on their longevity?

Edit #2: honestly, I don't have a strong argument either way. I've been driving the 4Runner through deep enough water to submerge the hubs somewhat regularly since 2019. Sometimes I am amazed that my hub bearings aren't shot yet.

    I asked my AI Guru.

"If a wheel bearing hub encounters a sudden drop in temperature, such as when driving through water after the hub has been heated, the rapid cooling can cause a vacuum effect. This vacuum can draw in water and contaminants if the seals are not functioning properly, potentially leading to seal failure and subsequent bearing damage."

Well, if the hubs do get that hot, then they likely have a positive pressure to them due to things expanding with heat. Cooling them off would return to a neutral pressure. So, no, you're not going to suck anything in by cooling your hot hubs. This is assuming you aren't blowing Seal.

Was the source used for that answer this thread?

Funny, I asked it a question once about some 4runner thing, and the answer it pulled up was from something I said in a thread. I think I was wrong about whatever it was I posted lol

Not sure about you all but since the hail storm there's been vulture contractors littering the neighborhood going door to door....

After shunning them all away, I realized my roof is getting up there in age and this could be a perfect opportunity to get my insurance to pay for a new one.

This last kid, I gave a chance and we got the ball rolling...
Sure shit there is damage on my roof.

    @Pixeltim
I have a job for 4500sheets of 70# offset. (sheetfed press)
3.5" into the job I forgot to turn the counter on.

    Mic'd up a sheet at 0.005".
Told my feeder operator. "Eh that's around 800sheets. I'll stop the counter at 3700."

After backing it up the counter was 4510.

I'm sure liking it. Factory parts for about the same price as the cheap stuff from Amazon.
