Bearings, differentials, etc all warm up under use. Operating temperature is going to be greater than the ambient temperature. Pressure inside the diff changes, that’s why there’s a breather on it. That’s also why when it’s clogged up, people blow out seals cuz it has to escape somewhere.

Drastic temperature swings are hard on anything. Will one time do it? Probably not. But multiple times will accelerate failure.

go sit in a sauna for a while then take an ice bath.

Take a torch to a sealed bearing or balljoint and see what happens.
Stand out of the line of fire.

The first one yes The second one I cannot figure it out from that diagram. You need the one that goes in the spindle behind the bearing It is big diameter and mostly metal. I will see if I can figure it out for you when I get home.

I fully understand that. What I'm saying is the temperature/pressure swing is not as much as you're making out.

Okay... I suggest that you find a local Toyota dealer you can stand and develop a relationship with the parts counter guy if this offroad stuff is a path you intend to wander down. Called my guy and figured out that the seal I am talking about goes in the spindle and the number for my 2015 is 90316-72001. There are three different ones so they need your vin to get it right. The second one you gave me should come on the already assembled hubs. You need to one that goes into the spindle. Enter my number and look at it so you get an idea of what it should look like.

The key takeaway for me in post #48645 was.....

"This vacuum can draw in water and contaminants if the seals are not functioning properly"

If you're having that problem it was already a problem.

Mine is a 2015 SR5, isn't yours the same? I'll give him my VIN anyways, but I'd guess it's the same.
    Thanks for looking that up!

My Quantum spinning reel, of 29 years slaying fish, has finally gone kaput.

Torn between the Quantum Smoke or the Shimano Ultegra. Never used Shimano but I know Quantum is tough.
    Screenshot_20250606_175220_Amazon Shopping.jpg
(IMO any trusted name spinning reel above the $150 range will do fine.)
