    smell-o-vision :puke:

I saw a news clip on YouTube not that long ago with a new construction home that had the same issue. Zero pitch on the sewer drain line out to the street, so the owners weren't able to flush toilet paper. Of course the builder claimed it was fine.

Luckily its only 14" to the vertical drain, but it definitely shortened its life

Got most of the wall back up today. Have one partial panel to fit in the inside corner and one full panel that I screwed in place to be able to work on the partial one more easily. I'll get those finished up and nailed on tomorrow.
It's almost scary seeing what the PO did in their "remodel". Load bearing walls with rotten out supports and not replaced. Instead, they nailed together a couple chunks of 2x4 and wedged them into the rotten sill plate in the inside corner where the two walls meet.
Pre-fire season necessary projects are done, so I was able to get back to working on the house.

Is that a concentric vent for your tankless water heater? If so, the white pvc portion isn't supposed to be exposed to sunlight. It should be trimmed down like this,

My Rinnai was like that for years. I found out last summer during the buyers inspection when I went to sell the home. Easy fix, about $100 for a new vent from HD.

Painting it in water-based latex or wrapping it with tape is code compliant. There is also UV rated PVC that can be used for venting. The end cap you used does look much cleaner then any of the other options though.

I suppose, but that's a half a$$ work around imo. It's just a standard concentric Rinnani vent.

Most new construction builds leave it hanging out like that from what I've seen lately. :annoyed:

Yep. The whole construction industry has decided QC, aka pride in your work, doesn't mean shit anymore. Don't get me started.

I agree, unfortunately it's spread to far more than the construction industry.

Nice we had a 36' run done.
This is how ours looks. Had to put some screen inside because of wood boring bees looking for waterIMG_20240701_120822.jpg IMG_20240701_095210079_HDR.jpg I noticed it was not sounding right 2 weeks before the annual service. Tech said yep that'll do it.

I bet we made that pipe.

Got a source for the flange? I’m scheduled to paint my pvc one today. Interesting timing.

Unless it would be required to do if we sold the house it’s staying like it is. I would have to 3/4 rows of siding, house wrap and reflash everything. I will have it checked on the next service but no one has mentioned it needed to be redone.
