Access Cab Dog Platform UDPATE (pics)

Mines a 3rd gen but I used this thread as inspiration.

The center panel is stationary, locks into the cup holders of both center consoles. The outside panels both hinge off the center. On the drivers side, it hinges down, resting on the storage cubby, and makes a ramp for the dog to climb in the truck. On the passenger side, it hinges up 90 degrees and slides forward to be completely removed so that the passenger can recline for sleeping. Weighs next to nothing. 3/16" MDF covered in indoor outdoor carpet, inserted into aluminum shower door channel.



Throw a black fabric shower curtain over the seats to keep hair/mud off. dude is riding in style.



My 60# Aussie loves it, and is able to see 360 degrees while laying down. But even my girlfriends toy mutt can see out the windows.

Where did you get the black inserts for the jump seats?

 

First thing I did.. some plywood and a dog bed.

 

Lots of good stuff in here, feel obligated to share how I did mine. Wanted as much vertical as possible so elected to cut out the center.

final version got the carpet treatment similar to others.

dog loves it. no longer begs to ride shotgun or in a lap.

 

Any front passenger seat designs? I have a nice space for her in the back seat (double cab back seat folder flat with dog bed) but my dog likes to ride shotgun too and she really needs a platform to be comfortable.

Loving all the people who found inspiration from my 2009 post!!! For those who asked I just DIY’d and reupholstered the rear jump seats with a black leather, sadly my Boarder Collie “Meika” passed away in 2021. 16 great years! RIP

 

Yah, I got 16 years out of my Shiba-Inu (Trooper)... what a great damn dog he was. Had to put him down in 2017. Don't have the heart to get another yet, probably never will... worst thing about dogs, the damn things dont live long enough, damn it... ;(

 

He wouldn't want you not to get another, He would want to go to the pound and get a Rescue, Or Two. Save a Life for his.

 

yah but I'm getting up there in years to the point to where the dog would probably out live me, then where would that leave him?

 

Trust me I know, My Yellow Lab of 15 Years Sent Me, My German Shorthaired Pointer of 14 Years Sent Me, I have a few rescues living with me now.

 

I am 59 so I don't go for the young ones, I go for the older dogs that people give up on so they can get a puppy and start over.
