I imagine eventually I’ll have a few different calibers but for now this fits my needs.

I did the renewal class for my Maryland CCW today, was pretty happy with my shooting. 25 shots total from 3-15 yards. We had to label each shot with a number because you need 18 hits to pass (70%). Used my VP9 long slide with Holosun 507 Comp green dot optic

I don't like the snap. I feel like it's plenty secure without it. I seldom do cartwheels any more. I just tuck it away (the strap, not my junk) because I have commitment issues regarding the permanence of cutting it off (strap, not junk again).
I have a kydex holster I got with a used gun purchase and I don't care for it. I like leather better for either IWB or OWB. I guess I'm old fashioned about a lot of things like holsters and junk.

I was at Menards today. This guy walked past me with some kind of contraption that kind of looked like an old western holster, except the gun was just a little bit above his knee. IDK, maybe you would employee something like that if you were a truck driver? But in everyday carry it looked ridiculous. The cashier, who was a young man who obviously wasn't into weapons was like what was that all about. I could only be like it's a big dick contest, look at my big gun on my side. I also saw a post in the third gen thread where a guy had a Molly panel beside the console that he had his gun mounted to. I just don't get that mentality. I keep mine all concealed. Like I told the young man at Menards, I want someone to assume I'm harmless as a sheep, until I show them I'm not.

I saw a biker who was wearing denim and leather and he had something similar. About mid thigh, western style leather holster, maybe a Ruger Blackhawk or something. There was also a pretty big skinner on him. It did fit his whole look though.

    Something like this?

    Screenshot_20250608_073845_Google.jpg

I know people who use them for cowboy action shooting. Only person I know that carries like this outside of cowboy action was a guy who used to come into the LGS I worked at. He was a trapper and carried large-ish bore revolvers in case a black bear or boar got after him while he was checking traps. He came in a lot (mostly to BS) but I only saw him carrying like that once or twice when he was dropping in for ammo on his way to the woods. That's about the only context I can think of where that style of carry wouldn't be ridiculous and it still seems like it would be uncomfortable compared to a chest rig.

ETA: Funny enough, he also usually wore mostly denim and always carried a big skinner.

yes, but I don't remember that much leather on the drop area of the belt. he WAS wearing leather chaps though, so maybe.

I have a cowboy belt rig for a Ruger Vaquero. I really need to bring that out again.

Sorry, I should have been more prepared before posting. I was messing around online and remembered. Here you go. I can't tell you how ridiculous this guy looked walking through the store with his weapon flopping around all over the place.
