    Good Saturday morning crew.
Alrighty got a couple of pictures and talked to the shop foreman at work and he said same @six5crèéd said ,and confirmed with the BMW shop about 40 miles away. Thing to do is drill out and re-tap to m14x1.5 and gat bigger bolt. Tight spot so not sure if taking drive out won't be the best thing. Also confirmed even though I will use grease on tap and drill bit flush out and move on.

probably needs an engine shop, and even then he'll still need to pull it to get it to them. they're usually far better equipped to strap down motors for operations.

it seems boats are really getting closer to being a one-time-use sort of thing...

i still don't know what one does with a scrap fiberglass boat, other than dump it on the bad side of town behind the abandoned houses.

Good morning everyone, I hope you have a pleasant Sunday.

I hate to say it but it’s gonna be a lawn care Sunday, I’ve been trying to do it during the week days but the weather’s been non-compliant.

"free is never free" especially from people that "never had time to deal with it"

i brought these riding mowers home april 18th.

this weekend, i've finally realized that of three, only one is good. the other two are scrap.
one has a hole in the motor so it won't build compression, and a hydrostatic trans that's hemorrhaging fluid. not to mention the entire miss-matched wheel situation. the white wheel hub is an older craftsman wheel with an entirely different bore size. i haven't really even bothered to dig into what it would cost to fix all of those issues.

the other, the motor is good, but the trans slips. i tore into it this weekend to try to build a parts list. i'm up to $200 before shipping.

someone was bang-shifting gears under power, so the forward/reverse selector mechanisms are all entirely rounded off. i need parts 15, 16, 3, and 18 in this diagram--anything to do with the gear selector and shimming the gears. i honestly might be able to get away with just shimming the gears tighter to the selector, but this is to sell, not for personal use. so 'making it work' would also require a different set of ethics and a burner facebook account. those parts add up individually to $200. or they've kindly made the entire trans available for $680. half the tractor cost.

because i was trying to repair-and-sell, cost is a factor, somewhat a first for me. normally i take this stuff in, and someone i know has a need for it. so i'll repair at cost, and help someone out. but considering the fb marketplace worth is $300-400 at best, i can't justify the work for the cost return.

it's really frustrating to me. these are both newer tractors with really nice frames that haven't even started rusting, but the parts attached to them are absolute trash that haven't held up at all, and aren't worthwhile to do anything without spending new-tractor money on keeping the old tractor functional...
