I wonder who’s making the portal kits for these? Wasting no time with the new platform!

Nice clean build, not overly fancified. I could do without the Princess Leah molle panel side-buns, but that’s just me being envious. :p

With had much free play there was I'm surprised it didn't clunk. Then again the sound deadening is almost too good in the Tacoma.
    Always happy to help!

I'm glad to see it's not just my son who insists on riding a BMX bike. I've been trying to get Austin on a MTB for years and he just doesn't want to.

I asked him if he wanted a bigger bike.
    Not interested.

Got the handlebars and seat on the Mongoose maxxed out.

(It is a sweet bike. I never had one that nice. :()

    Haha!

I don't think it's envy. Those things would get hung up on every branch on the trail. Hard pass.

Mountain bikes are for geezers anyway.

My first though exactly…external molle panels are not very arbodynamic (that’s a new word I made up; the science of tree-flow drag reduction around a vehicle:D:p).

It could be worse. All time ridiculous side-bun awards go to the new defender

    mhmm. mhmm. precisely.
Like having a bumper with headlight hoops...
    not very arbodynamic by definition.

    Nice

….hmmm. That picture was taken at a 4x4 shop wasn’t it? If you saw it, then I’m going to assume that you took that picture.

So, why are you at a 4x4 shop exactly? I’d imagine it’s not for an oil change. Is there something you should be telling us?

Jason said it was an older guy. It’s a lot of work on a brand new unproven platform. That gives off vibes like he’s probably done “waiting”. Something tells me that GX is going to be on some trails.

If he’s local to Jason, he should invite him along his group’s trail rides and report back how that thing holds up, for science!

Trees are fuckers, they give no quarter and revel in damage. Nothing is arbodynamic in my world except a chain saw or a skidder...

    Arbordynamic.... Legendary term.

Until one reaches under the hoop.
Snap - Crackle - Pop and you bust a headlight anyway.
    Damned if you do.

My first inclination is spelling it without the second “r”…but I think I’m gonna need to feel it out for a bit with the second r. It might work better.

Even though I was referencing moving through the flexible parts of a tree…like branches and limbs, I see your point. Trees trunks are a stubborn, inflexible, and wily. Sometimes the direct approach is the only way. :p

With arbordynamics (yeah I like the second “r”) the goal is to smoothly deflect and displace the flexible parts of trees. Hoops at the corner of a vehicle are bound to capture a branch, pull the whole limb in, and eventually snag you. At the front of a vehicle, it doesn’t take much of a branch to skewer a soft spot under the headlights or radiator.

But hoops have their place…sometimes there are trees that need to be taught a lesson.
