That's a big house on a large lot. Beautiful architecture.

I like mahogany and cherrywood cabinets. This was the kitchen on the house I sold last summer. Silver travertine floors in a Versailles pattern and black granite leather finish counters. Sometimes I wonder if I should have kept that house. I spent 10 years tinkering on it, upgrading things, ect.

Is that your kitchen or a house you want to buy? I thought your house had black appliances, including a wall oven…?

Just needs a gas stove and it’s perfect! Unless there is absolutely no way to have natural gas or propane, I refuse to have an electric stove. Also, most of the homes my parents have owned and rented in 1988 have had electric stoves, even the ones with gas heat. However, I’ve never lived in a house with a smoothtop stove. Based on what I’ve heard from people who have smoothtop stoves, they suck. Every house I’ve ever lived with an electric stove has had the coils, which are ugly but also cook better in my opinion. I’ve also never had the misfortune of living in a house with a heat pump. The Navy-owned houses in Northern California where we lived in the late 1990s had electric heat (wall-mounted blower in the first house and baseboard in the second one), but it was so mild there that we rarely needed heat. My parents’ first house in NorCal (owned 1988-1990) had gas forced air heat but no central A/C.

The house we rented in Washington (state) had gas forced air heat but no central air. We rented a house in Pennsylvania that had central A/C and oil forced air heat. Every other house my parents have owned has had central A/C and gas heat, and three of those five houses (including the one we visited yesterday) have gas stoves.

The only way I would ever willingly install a heat pump in my house is if it was in addition to an oil heating system. The reason for this is that while oil heat is efficient, the oil consumption is not, and getting it filled costs a fortune!

Amanda and I got a wee bit intoxicated at my neighbors’ party last night, and I was super tired by the time I got home and started posting these. Now, I can continue! Here’s the family room…

This is obviously Christmas, and my mom believes it was 1991, which would have been a year after we moved in (my parents took delivery in November 1990); I would have been three months shy of my 3rd birthday of my mom’s guess on the year is correct…

That was the last house we had. Wife designed that kitchen.

Reminds me of a huge evergreen tree that was at my Grandma's house, remember them showing me an old picture of when they first moved in and it was only like 10 feet tall.

We lived in this house from 1990 to 1996, but spent Christmas at my grandma’s house in Connecticut in 1992 and 1994. However, we did still decorate and buy a real Christmas tree. In fact, 1996 was the only year we got a small tree, because we were living in a small house at a Navy base and we went to my grandma’s house in Connecticut. The first Christmas picture of myself that I posted was in either 1990 or 1991, and I believe that this one is from 1991 or 1992…

This one is 100% from 1993, because I look older, and 1993 was the last Christmas I spent at the house before 1st grade. We went to my grandma’s in 1994. Note that the stockings are filled and there are presents; I am also clearly wearing Christmas PJs…

This was either 1994 or 1995. Note that fireplace has a metal and glass cover instead of just a folding mesh one. Also note the presence of the fish tank in the corner. That fish tank was a gift from my grandma in 1993, and now that I think about it, the picture above might actually be 1991 because there is clearly a recliner where the fish tank would be. I was no older than 6 in the picture below…

We talked with our plumber about extending the natural gas line from the bbq on the back patio to the kitchen for a gas stove, but never did it. I started looking at induction ranges and was planning on going that route, but then sold the house. That GE stove had an overhang on both sides and the back, so crumbs wouldn't fall down between the cabinets. Ceramabryte works well for keeping those ranges clean.

Amanda and I went to a car show at Pennhurst Asylum l, but not before I picked up a decommissioned central A/C system in Philly, and that’s why it’s been taking so long to post all of these pics. This is also in the family room, and it was a wet bar when we lived there. It had a sink that my parents thought was pointless, and I like this version much better…
