It's been in the 90s and raining once or twice a week. Perfect weather for the fruit to ripen. But it killed my spinach and lettuce is about done.

Yep. Single layer, then bag it. I do eat them off the bush, but we wash ours after we pick it. We do not use pesticides either, but I am paranoid. We soak ours for 5 min in lemon water (sink full of cold water plus 1/4 cup of lemon juice). Lemon juice sanitizes them. Thats what we used in a restaurant when we ran out of vegetable wash. Drain after wash, store in a double layer drain container or line bottom with a paper towel.

My large cherry tree seems singed or weak or stunted on the NE side only. It even seems less leafy overall

    ideas as to cause ?

we had a late hard frost that killed a couple bushes ?
    And or
we had some bushes killed by an unknown fungus/virus ?

I saw one borer hole near the base

Weird its got cherries. If it was injured you'd think it would drop fruit. Can you tell if bugs got the leaves maybe?

We just wash blueberries, let them dry in a strainer basket or dish towel on the counter then straight into quart freezer bags and freezer. No complaints from anyone who has eaten them.

Inundated with zucchini and squash. Tomatoes still green. Corn thigh high and going strong. Beans covered with blooms.Okra shin high.

Continuing battle with squash bugs. Been watering daily, watching for them to climb up stems and mashing hell out of them. Usually get 6-8 off the 16 plants. Have only had a couple egg pods so far and removed those quickly. Probably over wintering in wood shed 30 yards away. Manual removal seems to be working best.

Went to pick strawberries today and just as l approached the box a chipmunk shot out from under the net. Unfortunately that little sucker wiped out the entire box, every single strawberry was gone!

I have serious mole problems here, hate those things, but put wire mesh on the bottom of my raised bed to prevent them from getting in.
