FINALLY!!! After two months of waiting, the Caliraised rock guards have touched down. Everything looks as I suspected it would... nothing to report yet. I'll post some photos once I get them installed.

How are you liking the Cali Raised shock skids w/5160? I just installed 5160 and looking to add the same. Likes/dislikes? Any concerns?

I like them so far. I would assume a boot would offer more protection from rocks since it would be enclosed instead of shielded like this does but for my needs it seems to work well.

Old thread but I just ordered a pair of the caliraised guards from Hotshot. I'm putting 5160's on soon and I don't want the passenger side one getting trashed by the rocks my tires throw every day when I leave work. I'm gonna try to come up with a way to protect more of the shaft than the optional plates do, either by extending them with rubber or maybe make a whole new piece out of aluminum. I'll come back with pics of what I came up with when it's all together.

I understand where you are going with this, but I have had these skids on for more than 3 years and many wheeling trips and not a single pit in my Kings (which are prone to pitting ). I am not the most extreme off roader, but I do enough that I have my fair share of hits underneath. I took one pic from front to back underneath so you can see just how tucked that shock shaft really is. Would have to be a perfect direct hit in a very precise spot to cause any issue.

My point is try them out first and then determine if you need to go further. I don't feel like I need any more protection than what I have, and I only have the guard on the pass side. Not needed on driver side.

Alright, here's what I came up with. 2.5in Intercooler tubing, 8in tall, cut at a 45° then cut in half. Plus a piece of 1.5in x .25in bar to hold it to the caliraised guard. Shouldn't touch anything even at full compression, but still provides coverage with uptravel. I'm happy with how it came out.

Yea i tried to install the king shock guards on the rears and it doesn't work on the driver side unless you run the guard facing backwards which is pointless imo. You’ll be collecting rocks not deflecting them lol. Maybe they work if you’ve done a shock relocation, but for the stock mount - the axle contacts the guard.

Even after trying to shave down the shock mount initially for clearance I was still a ways off from getting the everything to align to install the bolt.

Used the left over mat from the splashguards to make something instead. May need to modify the driver side a bit, but overall they seem to be working/holding up.
