    Hey fellas, my trucks a 2025 sr5.

My carista evo finally came in and I tried it yesterday. The first thing I did was disable the Automatic Noise Cancellation and the Engine Sound Enhancement. The truck sounds the way it should. Sad I had to spend 100 bucks to do it but worth it to have that rumble go away.

Are you talking about how this truck occasionally sounds like it has a Flowmaster muffler from the 80's on it? If so, I will be trying this, as I find it kind of annoying.

It sounds like an exhaust note change that comes and goes away at any speed in any gear but only at approximately 2000rpm for a sustained time. I tried taking a video for the sound but it doesn't come through

Yep! I disabled those two options and like the quieter ride.

It sounds like a small hole in an old muffler. It's one of the few things I don't like about the truck. They are trying to hard to Bro-ify them.

The dumbest thing about fake engine noise everyone wants a quite cabin in their truck. Toyota puts accoustic glass on the Tundra and you can add a hood insulator to block underhood engine noise on the Tacoma.

Who at Toyota thinks fake engine noise and a quite interrior makes sense on the same truck? Toyota's truck goals aren't consistent with what they want their trucks to be.

I drove a 4x4 & they definitely sound more droney....
To me it was more inregards to drone from motor mounts up front than an exhaust tone change......
Certain rpm range after taking off, it definitely got loud for me......

No ide why, I heard it more up front.....
Almost like there was a hole in the firewall & engine sound was getting pumped in the cab....
But it was a drone sound like motor mount vibration getting set-off or exhaust drone....

It had nothing to do with the noise canceling, it was definitely louder compare to driving my 2wd sport & 2wd sr5....

With the JBL sound-system, there is a 3.5x 7 inch hole in the back wall of the truck. That hole or opening is covered by a plastic grate and a duct that leads to the back of the subwoofer inside the cab.
So, the exhaust pipe and muffler will easily send noise up between the bed and back wall of the truck, into the opening at the rear wall, through the duct and in turn through the paper subwoofer into the cab, especially with the rear seat-back in the lowered position.

The grate covering the opening will allow thousands of bugs to enter the back of the subwoofer if they so choose, and set up a home/condo in the subwoofer enclosure.
It's an interesting design, either to let the subwoofer move freely, or to allow exhaust noise into the cab.

I cut a piece of 1/2 inch thick exercise mat to size, plugged it and sealed it with silicone.
The exhaust noise I noticed from the left rear of the cab is now gone.

Did you cut a hole into the surround foam of the sub? How are you allowing the sub rear to not build air pressure now?

Just curious, maybe that was there to allow for ventilation? Not abnormal in the back of a car to have vents like that.

Was it hard to pop off the back panel to access? That’s one area that I never finished sound deadening

Glad you are happy with the sound delete.

Any of the vehicles I've ever owned that had engine noise piped over the speakers also had a fuse for the system. I've always just pulled these fuses.

Has anyone researched if this might also be the case on the tacos?

So I just ordered one just for this option. I didn't know it was an international order until I bought it. I thought it was an American company. But I have a couple questions. I was following the steps to open the account and step 3 is to cancel subscription auto renewal, I followed the instructions but I don't show Carista as a subscription in my Play Store. So when you buy the EVO and 12 Month bundle is that not considered an auto renew subscription? Secondly, how does this device affect warranty when making changes.

For me, they send an email the week prior to your free month expiring warning you and containing a link to modify or cancel your subscription. I'm paying for the first year just so that I can tinker at will for a while.

It doesn't affect warranty. The Carista cannot change anything that isn't something you can either change from a. the touchscreen settings, or b. via gts+. It's not doing anything custom - just cutting the dealership hassle and possible cost from the equation.

Thanks. They didn't offer a free month. They just have a sale on the EVO/12 month bundle. So When it gets here I'll complete the app installation with the code they sent then check and see if I can find the auto pay cancel anywhere.

FYI, I contacted Carista about the auto pay question and they actually got back with me in a timely manner. If you buy the app access on Apple Carplay or Google Play Store it will become a subscription that auto renews unless you cancel. If you order the access online at Carista it is a one time purchase and will not auto renew.
