We had a shower this morning, now the sun is out. 78*, 85% humidity, dew point 73*. Welcome to the sauna. It’ll be like this til October.

 

Oh. My. Goodness.

 

Going to Illinois fer da day, I expect plenty of reading material upon my return late this evening.

We all need to submit one Story Time prior to his return from Illinois

 

StayinStock's Great Illinois Expectations

StayinStock packed his bags, kissed his keyboard goodbye, and set out on a journey to Illinois — a man with a mission and a dream. But not just any dream. No, he dreamed of returning to the sacred Whatever thread on TW, where his digital people awaited, ready to regale him with tales, memes, and the hot takes of the day.

He imagined it vividly:
"Man, while I’m gone, the thread’s gonna be LIT. I’ll come back to 200+ messages. Jokes, chaos, maybe a conspiracy theory or two. They'll probably miss me so bad they’ll start a countdown."

Fast-forward to his triumphant return. He logs on, throws open the thread expecting a warm flood of banter... and sees:

3 messages.
One is a typo someone didn’t bother fixing.
One is someone saying “test.”
And the third? A bot notification.

StayinStock stares at the screen like Jim from The Office, silently judging his “people.”

He types:
“Cool cool cool. Glad you all clearly fell into a collective nap while I was gone. Did y’all get abducted or join a silent retreat?”

Crickets.

He sighs, sips his coffee, and whispers to no one, “Next time I’m bringing the thread with me to Illinois. Y’all clearly can’t be trusted unsupervised.”

And thus began the legend of StayinStock: The man who expected a party and got a ghost town.
