Window Molle Panel on Camper Shell???

Has anyone installed a molle panel on a standard fiberglass camper shell (e.g., Leer 100, ARE, etc.) via rooftop rack (e.g., Sherpa, Prinsu, Victory, etc.)???

I'm looking for molle panels for my camper shell. It could either be a "universal" molle panel build, or repurposing a 4Runner or LC roof rack molle panel.

Also can't find any threads on the subject, but I'm sure others are curious.

Something like this - Hope you can appreciate my super advanced photo shop skillz:

you can just run aluminum extrusion. just have to make sure it cantilevers out enough

Probably have to make one yourself. Looks like its just a molle panel with a mounting bracket to the rack and then some suction cups on the glass. If you need something quick and don't care about the size, it almost looks like you could just use the 4Runner version.

 

Are you willing to drill holes through your fiberglass cap?

It's not that big of a deal... I've drilled through the top of my Leer 100 in 4 places to add e-track for a Yakima EasyTop. Just use rubber washers of a correct size.

 

You don’t have to drill holes in the fiberglass, I used the window frame. I made this as a folding shelf for my ARE MX shell (short bed) out of a @victory4x4 panel, it has a aluminum spacer bar (to get the top edge of the panel to lay over the upper part of the window frame) and a piano hinge across the bottom, with hand screws on top to hold it up (not shown here), and two light cable supports attached to it to hold it flat when open.



the cable on the left looks loose but it’s just because the box on the right is heavy. There is some flex in the panel, but it holds a lot of weight, including a portable diesel heater for the RTT or my Jackery battery.





The top and bottom frame mounting bolts have aluminum spacers to offset the panel from the window a bit:



I used stainless pop rivets to attach both sides of the piano hinge onto the two spacer bars, and stainless bolts to hold the other end of the spacer bars, one to the panel and the other to the window frame.

 

That paired with 8020 extrusion like this person did.

 

That is clever as hell! Nicely done!

 

It seems more like the OP just needs to fab some metal extension tabs that bolt into the MOLLE and the roof rack, and then rests on the glass or frame somehow.

I mean, I think those things are silly and noisy and showy and a waste on most trucks anyway — just toss the gear into the bed — there’s *always* room. The exterior MOLLE stuff only makes sense for a dedicated beach lifeguard or mountain rig. If you’re going to be on highways and freeways (and you are) or parking at Target (you are), that’s not something I want sitting there.

But hey, the heart wants what the heart wants.

I’m doing exactly that on my leer 100 this weekend - no rooftop rails to mount my rack, and I’m mounting a prinsu.

 

Thank you for the comment. Do keep in mind that I did drill holes in the aluminum window frame for this. They can easily be sealed up with caps if I ever take the thing off.

if you don’t wanna drill any holes, you could easily do it with bars coming down from the Prinsu, in the bottom of those bars can be attached to a cross brace that is glued to the window.I did the same thing on the other side of my truck to mount a retractable solar panel on the side. You can glue a flat aluminum bar with silicone glue directly to the glass and mount The bottom part of your mole panel mount onto that. I’ll post some photos how I did it later today.

I’ve been wanting to do some on the inside of topper, but maybe outside would be cool? I have the leer 100XQ, so the windows compliment the truck lines, so not sure I’d want to get rid of that though.
