    Hello,

I hired a now former friend to replace the carrier bearing and u-joints on my 1999 Toy prerunner (2.7 engine, ext cab, 2 wh drive, automatic), and the attached is what I got back. I understand that the vehicle has a 2 piece shaft. I have 2 questions.
    1) Is this the front of the shaft or the back?
    2) Does it look good enough to reinstall? shaft0.jpg shaft1.jpg

    1. Thats the back half of the shaft. Note you're missing the front half.

    2. He disassembled the double cardan joint, which is typically considered a non serviceable part. You're going to need to find the front half of your driveshaft along with the carrier bearing (and other half of that double cardan joint) and then figure out how to reassemble the double cardan joint in order to use the parts pictured above.

Ummmm, as mentioned, you got back half a DS. The slip yoke connects to the third member, you’re missing the first section that is connected to the transmission output flange, which is almost as long as the piece you got.

IMO, look like he cut the ujoint out of the double cardone because the two caps are still in place. Might be best to buy a new DS or look for a used one.

Safe to say that person didn't know what they were doing or how to do a little research on the parts before starting their "work". Didn't even make match marks the slip yoke...

If you're able to find the front, you stand a decent chance of taking it to a drive shaft shop for repair. They'll cut out the double cardan and weld a new one in it's place, rebalance the whole thing, etc.. They should be able to figure out the phasing on the slip yoke, and then it'll only be one of two orientations to get it right...

Chances are the zerk fittings line up with one another, but yea the "former" friend title really fits here.
