Going out for the weekend I posted this on Ryans San Diego BS thread but this way it will get more exposure...

I am taking a couple of dirtbikes and a buggy and some guns of course, gonna do some shooting, riding, and driving.

Would love to have people come out and enjoy it before the temp gets unbearable, its supposed to be mid 80s this weekend, so it should be perfect!!

I know the place like tha back of my hand so I can take us anywhere, also if anybody rides dirtbikes, I need a riding buddy, I always ride alone..

Should be a lot of fun for anybody wanting to get out for a day or two..

Any other time and I would like to go out too! Company this weekend, and a Baja trip next weekend... Have fun!

Cool no problem Dave, I will keep posting when I go out, always nice to have more people besides myself and the wife, seems my Desert friends have become flakey and dont make it out anymore, however I love to play, thats why we are here right?

I will also be doing some Jeep trips too so maybe I can get some people together for one of those, I have a Tacoma but its a 2wd V8 street truck, so dont hate me for not having a 4wd Taco...

No worries Jason... One of my friends from Riverside... is a big time Jeep Rubicon owner... Of course I am out wheeling more, because mine isn't constantly being fixed or 'improved' (yah, I know it's a 'Jeep thing')!

Cool pic Dave, I used to go to Baja a lot, but always on dirtbikes, I used to race down there from time to time and do lots of pre-running for the Felipe250, Baja 500 and 1000, such an awesome place..

I am due to go on a trip next month to Mikes sky ranch so it should be about a 350 mile round trip on the bikes, not a super big ride but ehough to make me smile for a couple of weeks afterward.

I just got the Jeep so I havent quite got myself into modding it yet, but I have been doing my research, soon it will be setup, for now bone stock and amazingly it goes damn near anywhere with low air pressure!!
However its not a Rubicon, just a stocker with tiny axles and no locker...:p, its on the list, lol.

I would love to go on trips with the TW crew, maybe I will put some Toyota Tacoma badges on it and nobody will even notice?? Haha.

Thats Carrizo creek off of Canyon Sin Nombre Gabe, I wanted to hit that one when we went out last Sat. Fun as hell, about a mile or more long & very, very historic . It goes to Carrizo creek stage stop (old wooden fenced corrals, big rusted water tank, etc;)

Yah, it looks that way... so then we can go to driver fail as the reason for a pull out?

    1) Didn't put it in 4WD before getting stuck (note... as soon as you are off pavement, go into H4... they want you to do that 10 miles a month, anyway!)

    2) Turned off TRAC and VSC so he had open differentials (if it was an '09 + Tacoma)

    3) Was a pre-'09 Tacoma without TRAC so one tire in front and one in the rear was off the ground or over looser material than the other two... causing spinning of the low traction tires.

    4) Didn't put it into L4 and engage the rear locker (or A-TRAC if '09+)

    5) Didn't deflate tires to increase traction (usually the key in sand or snow)

    6) High centered so all tires were off the ground ('09+) or one front and one rear off the ground pre-'09 and didn't use locker...

heheh, yeah well there ain't no A-trac B trac, C-trac or any other letter of the alphabet that was going to move this truck David, he was well past the frame rails as you can see, front to back with a wheel in the air .

It took 4 or 5 Hard pops to free him up & its not so much driver error as its just a shitty spot on the trail that has claimed more than a few...

The rut swallowed half his truck! I guess I won't ask why he drove into it,,, as it doesn't look like a road...

That section has a hog wire fence running right down the middle of the trail ( ??? :notsure::notsure:???) put there by CDF & you have 2 choices..Bog 1 or Bog 2. Bog 1 LOOKS like the one to take because its the driest & most level but its barely enough room to squeeze a 1st gen by & it has a nasty habit of the bank caving in even at what could be considered a distance away from the edge, I'm betting this is what happened.. I've wheeled with Richard a few times & he's no rook, just luck of the draw I reckon...;)

Ok Doug, so tell me did you go first or were behind him? Did you drive through that rut either before or after? What traction selection was he in already (before getting stuck)???

If an '09+ nine possible traction options.
    1) H2 TRAC
    2) H2 AUTO LSD
    3) H2 VSC OFF (open diff)
    4) H4 TRAC
    5) H4 VSC OFF (open diffs)
    6) L4 (open diffs)
    7) L4 A-TRAC
    8) L4 Rear Locked
    9) L4 Rear Locked + A-TRAC

    If a '05-'08, then which of the 4 choices (#3, 5, 6 or 8)?

    Have a great day Doug!

PS 3+ Tacomas going to be in Baja, next Friday-Sunday searching for a lost mission! Trip report will be posted... Details on Baja Nomad Lost Mission of Santa Isabel thread.
