Great news y'all, Drugovich is on his way to Le Mans which means Lance's wrist must be healing quickly enough that'll be on the grid for his home GP next week (although just in case I think Latifi should keep his ringer turned on)

Moving the Canadian GP to May right after Miami makes sense...and then I looked at the dates and realized there's a 2 week break in between and it's going up against Indy wtf?

Imola getting replaced by Madrid and then still keeping Barcelona on the schedule is lame

 

Imola getting replaced makes sense knowing that it only came back on the grid in 2020, but you also know that F1 (whether teams race in both F1 and Indy or not) does not really give Flying "F" about the Indy calendar, they only focus on what's best for the teams in F1. Madrid is definitely a Dark horse here though.... Especially because it technically is supposed to be the track that is going to be replacing Barcelona but keeping them both on the calendar does seem out of the ordinary. I just really hope that Madrid isn't set up where a lot of passing cannot take place like Monaco. I just watched a you tube video with a basic layout of Madrid and it is going to be highly technical, somewhat slow, a lot of turns, and hopefully Wide enough to do some passing. I may be wrong just my $0.02

Yeah we knew Imola was out, hence another farewell there earlier this year, but we got sold this whole "rotation" thing which is why it was a bit surprising to see BOTH Madrid and Barca there. And no doubt MBS and Liberty don't give a flying fuck about anything other than $$$ (I mean, we're racing in a parking lot underneath I-95 with a fake marina) but frankly I don't give a fuck what they want, I'm much more concerned about my own personal viewing schedule. And the kicker is that the way the start times lineup it's impossible for anyone to attempt the triple (Montreal > Indy > Charlotte) which would have been one hell of a PR stunt LOL.

 

Which is why I think they made a mistake. One of F1's obvious goals has been to expand the US market for it's product.

 

I'll watch Indy then an on demand replay of F1.

 

Agreed and this is probably the most confusing part about this...they're so concerned with expanding into the US market, Liberty is literally obsessed with TV ratings and they're saying the reason they moved Monaco was to not compete with Indy. So instead they put Canada DIRECTLY up against it? Just my opinion here but I thought the way things worked out this year was great -- one of the best days of motorsports I've ever seen with MotoGP at Silverstone > Monaco > Indy > Charlotte. That was a banger for Memorial Day weekend.

It also occurs to me that Sky is going to be in a bit of a pickle because in the UK they hold the rights to both F1 and the Indy 500 so I've gotta think they're not very happy about the start time.

Agreed. But when they made the shtty decision to have 24 races they were bound to have to make at least one shitty scheduling decision. There are only so many weekends.

 

Im sorry but this is absolutely hilarious.......nepotism at its finest. 9 straight minutes of Lance Stroll and the carnage/chaos he has caused in F1 since his start. Name one other driver that has rung up this much of a bill and still drive in F1 let alone still has their super license.

Lance sure was on form in FP2 today! Less than 5 minutes into the session he binned it in the wall, drove half a lap around the circuit on 3 wheels while arguing on the radio with his engineer about wanting to bring it all the way back to the garage. Finally convinced him to park it and the Sky broadcast cuts to the AM mechanics who looked like they were questioning every decision they've ever made in their entire lives and then the moneyshot: cut to fan in the grandstand dressed head to toe in AM gear just shaking his head like someone pissed in his Molson. Pure cinema! Your move Jerry Bruckheimer
