It's not better for everyone. When you get used to a service and an interface that you use everyday, it can be a chore to switch and learn a new platform. I built up a lot of playlists on SoundCloud and they pay artists well too, but I had issues with the interface and when I tried Tidal I was impressed with the noticeable improvement in sound quality, even in the Taco through Android Auto. It was worth the move for me and my tastes and preferences.

Good info in this review: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/tidal?test_uuid=02LlF0iWKsilxYTJVF8uH5y&test_variant=B

Yes, lossless. Makes for larger files though, not that it matters.

I’d do Tidal if I wasn’t 100% invested into the Apple ecosystem. I’ve been there since the 80s due to Apple being the only realistic option for the printing and pre-press industry.

My pixel 6A does Spotify just fine. And because it's phone speakers I'm not too worried about the fact that the audio quality isn't Top notch. And when I Bluetooth it to the work truck speakers. Well... It's a work truck. With a surprisingly versatile sound system. All of Ford's head units leave a lot to be desired.

I didn’t know people still use pandora. I used to use it in college but now I use the stations in Apple Music

Very much so. I use mine mowing the yard, chainsawing, etc. they are as good or better than ear plugs.

Spotify was really the only service at one time. I think most people that still use it are hold outs who haven’t looked at other services.

It’s gotten some pretty significant updates the last couple years.

Yep same. $100 to connect it up. I’ve got 48gb hdmi run into my receiver for 4k and atmos. The older ones have optical output or you can get a hdmi splitter to pull out the audio.

Yup no complaints here. Lot of people grew up on mp3 and aac is significantly better. Plus lossless now if that’s your jam. That was the big reason people went to tidal initially

    uncompressed audio.

at one point tidals catalog was quite a big smaller compared to others.

people can also still buy albums of artists they want to support but I think that’s pretty rare these days unless you are buying vinyl or something.

On the topic of noise cancelling headphones

First set I got were some Bose QC35 and those are still a solid buy today.

Since those, I have both the AirPod pro and AirPod max. The pro 2 are a significant improvement from the original pro. They also work with non apple products, there’s a lot of android guys at work with them.

if you are in the Apple eco system, the h2 chip is life changing. Instead of having to pair Bluetooth on every device, it pairs to your account and you can flip between devices based on which one is active or at the tap of a button if you prefer. No fighting with you headphones being last connected to a different device. That’s why I ultimately replaced my QC35s

As noted earlier by someone, I also have the whole family on Spotify. Once I hear how bad it is with phones on I will consider a change. This has been why it has taken so long to go this way for me, I do not trust the sound replication and quality... I could have bought a better box, but everything beyond the NAD (which is a brand I trust) was $1200-6000 and that just didnt make sense when I have truck parts I am still pining for. I need to just admit that I cannot hear well anymore and move on.

My days of getting into stereo and electronics is over.

Stock speakers and free versions of Spotify and Pandora are how I roll these days. :headbang:

I'm old fashioned about most of this new music and stuff. In the truck it's traditional music listening, radio. At work I listen to YouTube. At home while cooking it's Alexa, Outlaw County Music.(I just had to ask Alexa, how to spell Alexa).
Yesterday at Culvers I got the Senior Citizen Discount.

Yeah, my wife mentions that on occasion, but for some reason (denial) it never occurs to me to bring it up.

    No I didn't ask.
Well, either they were giving it me or my wife.
We don't want to go there, even though she is 4 years older than me.

I have been getting called Sir more offen lately.
Some of the young(smart ass) apprentices at work have been calling me, Daddy Dan
